The View Hotel

Staff were helpful and the appearance of the lobby, bar and mezzanine restaurant are all good, although the air conditioning was on full blast. The corridors seemed dated and this continued in the room. The wooden style furnishings age the room. The television was in an odd position and not on a hinged mount so could not be adjusted for easy viewing. The bathroom door didnt fit into the frame well and was difficult to close. The toilet flush was also stiff. The air conditioning was odd; we turned it off several times and it kept coming back on. The rooms arent well sound proofed, so crying babies down the corridor and showers running on the floor above could all clearly be heard. None of this warranted a complaint, but the room did not meet the expectations we had, which is a shame. At breakfast, the restaurant was woefully understaffed and the gentleman running it had to keep apologising and telling people there would be a wait. There were tables, but as there were so few staff, they couldnt clear them quickly enough and let people in simultaneously. We were asked about dietary requirements; I told him I was vegetarian but no mention was made of being able to get a veggie sausage. It is self service and we were told to ask if we needed anything, but staff were so rushed off their feet there wasnt anyone to ask. What we ate was nice enough.

Lovely hotel, clean and comfortable. We had a city facing family room which was quiet and well equipped. Breakfast was plentiful and staff helpful and friendly.

My room was clean and well maintained very comfortable and spacious the staff were friendly and helpful The breakfasts were absolutely brilliant. Me and my family enjoyed staying there and will stay there again next year. we were there for a car show as I’ve got a Classic Car
