Holiday Inn Express Birmingham NEC, an IHG Hotel

Wonderful hotel for a short overnight stay! Fantastic check in service, rooms were small for family of four but we were just sleeping there so for value for money it was outstanding. Breakfast included was incredible. Only flaw is they parking was additional to the cost of hotel at £12 per night

The hotel reception looks lovely so i had high hopes! We were staying as a family of three in quite possibly the smallest room they had. It was so small that we couldn't even get the chair out from under the desk with the sofa bed set up. The double bed was rock solid and i barely slept the two nights we were there. The heat in the room was unbearable and the aircon done notbing other than make a loud racket and the sound of constant running water. The breakfast was a plus and the majority of the staff were helpful. I do feel that some were just totally uninterested in their job. We were left a dirty towel from a previous guest which just added to the stay!

It was a really nice hotel, very clean and comfortable, the family rooml we had was a lot smaller than other hotels we have stayed in before and when you have teenage children it becomes a little crowded, especially on a sofa bed, the breakfast was nice but not a huge selection with the hot food but maybe that's what an express has, it's the first time we stayed in a Holiday inn Express, it was nice but a little compact for our family. Other than that it was lovely, the lobby was clean and spacious and staff very helpful and friendly.

Property itself was fine. Nice large entrance area with dining and a bar. General facilities the same as all Holiday Inns. If your away for a night out or a night away with friends this is for you. Not for children. Staff were rushed around, so definitely understaffed. Room wasn’t set up to the correct amount of people in our room, so had to ask for extra bedding and set up our daughters bed ourselves. But the noise was awful. Outside noise and inside noise during the night and early hours of the morning, loud rooms with music and cars and taxis loud outside. Not an ideal room to place a family with a small child. We stay away a lot so know what to expect for the prices we pay etc. Holiday inns our usually our favourite being a member, but after our stay here it has definitely put us off. Staff were overall friendly and helpful, but looked tired and overworked.
