Movenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre

I was there with my family for 2 nights. Hotel is located in the harbour area. Walk to the center of the city takes about 30 min. Central train station is about 15 min walk. You can rent bicycles next door. It was crowded, so there was a bit of hassle with reception services and the breakfast room was really crowded both mornings. Rooms were nice and tidy.

We had a lovely stay at the Movenpick Hotel. We stayed in a Junior Suite and it was perfect, a lovely size for a family of 3. Great views from the room, always something to watch. There was an issue with cleanliness that I brought to their attention. This was promptly and thoughtfully addressed and resolved successfully. Lovely heated floor in the bathroom! We would stay here again.

Movenpick has become my favorite hotel! My family and I were very pleased with our stay. Although the service of the staff wasn't as inviting, I will definitely return to Movenpick the next time I visit Amsterdam.

Terrific hotel in great location. Stayed here with family prior to river cruise, which this hotel is perfectly situated for. Walking distance to downtown, super comfortable room, good AC, very clean. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, gave us good advice, directions, etc. Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in the city.

My family was eagerly anticipating our one day in Amsterdam. We would be 4,200 miles from home. Upon arriving at Movenpick after 20:00, we were informed that only 3 of our family of 4 could stay in a room. I booked through Expedia. I can’t believe I would have requested a room that said “ sleeps 2” or “sleeps 3”, but I cannot find evidence or documentation that I booked a room that slept 4. I own the mistake of this booking oversight. I also do not recall any disclaimer of a $50 USD charge for the 3rd guest. I usually read the fine print. I guess I did not the night I booked Movenpick on April 3 at 22:06. Shame on me for obviously missing fine print with this disclaimer and not noticing I did not choose “sleeps 4”. Absolutely no accommodations could be made for my family on Friday night (June 17). Movenpick would not reimburse Expedia, cancel our reservation, or allow a 4th person in the room at a second $50 surcharge. It was explained the next day when I returned with my son that this is based on fire rules and regulations. Being Friday night, it was hard to find a place that was not sold out, but we did. My son and I had to go over the water (channel/river/I’m not sure) to the DoubleTree by Hilton. Our family was separated as my wife and daughter stayed at Movenpick. You may say this was simply the result of my error. I take responsibility for that. However, as I try to stay reasonable about my reaction, I find the lack of any accommodations on the part of
