Hotel Ca' d'Oro

The Altana, rooftop terrace, is a great way to view much of the city. On a clear day the Alps are visible as are several leaning towers called campaniles. Staff, they greet you like family.

I cannot praise this hotel enough. It's the first time I've stayed north of St Mark's square - booked because we were arriving late and didn't want too much of a trek from Piazza le Roma - and the location was absolutely perfect. Tucked down a tiny side street, the hotel is small, welcoming and spotlessly clean. The room had everything we could possible want, with beautiful views over the side canal (see photos). We were a family of 3, so we had a deluxe canal view (queen bed and single) and the bed was so comfortable, the best I've slept in ages. The continental breakfast was plentiful - perfect for what we needed. I would not hesitate to book this again.
