Stern am Rathaus

This was a lovely hotel in a great location. Easily walkable to anything you’d want to see in Cologne. The staff was absolutely amazing. Francisco and Kai were friendly and attentive. My family and I traveled throughout Germany this vacation, visiting 8 cities and my stepson declared Cologne to be his favorite stop - no doubt due to Francisco and Kai. We can’t wait to return!

We were treated like members of the family throughout our stay, from the initial arrival instructions through to helping us with a query about our return train time on the last morning. Rooms are large by city centre standards, with loads of extras. You can do your bit for the planet by opting to reduce the cleaning routine or by extending the life of your towels. There is loads of choice for breakfast, with some items cooked to order. We were there for 4 nights, so it was great that the breakfast varied a little from day to day. The hotel is very close to the station and many museums and other attractions. There are loads of restaurants and cafés in the same area.

We stayed 4 nights in the junior suite. The location was around 5 minute walk to the main train station and minutes away from a couple of Christmas markets. The room was clean and comfortable. Our suite had a tub and shower and the bathroom was a very good size. The mezzanine was perfect for our 6 year old son and the view is superb. The breakfast buffet was what I was looking forward to and it did not disappoint! The staff cooked scrambled eggs for us if we didn’t want the boiled eggs. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Ingmar and Andy took the time to interact with us and our 6 year old son looks forward every night to coming back to the hotel to look for Ingmar and Andy. They seemed like our long lost friends! We would love to stay here again next time we visit Cologne!

A small gem. Yes the room is small and the carpet has been around for a few years but... The staff and the total service they provide make the place cosy instead of small. Top location, superb breakfast and family feeling make this a sure thing next time in Köln.

Superb little hotel with fantastic hospitality and within easy walking distance of the Central Station, Old Town and River Rhine. Excellent relaxed breakfast, good selection of food and drink. What makes this hotel special is the enthusiasm and attentiveness of the staff. We would certainly stay here again and recommend this hotel to friends and family.
