To spend more time with family at Tamarindo, we wanted to stay an extra day in our VIP room, which had 2 queen sized beds (in other words, it could accommodate 4 people). The front desk quoted me a price of ~$269 (with tax and other fees, ~$295). I agreed on the price and thought the matter was settled. A few hours later, they came back and said they had made a mistake, that the $269 was for only 2 people, and that because we had 4, we would need to pay an extra $70. They would not budge on this, even though it was their mistake and I had stopped looking for alternatives once I agreed to their first quote. They should have comped us the $70 or worked something out with us. Especially because we were in a room that obviously was sized and furnished for 4 people - it felt that we were being taken advantage of. This is not the way to deal with ‘VIP’ clients (their phrasing, not mine) who were unhappy with some aspect of service. Also, people should know that there is no restaurant on site, so the breakfast that is included is cereal, breads, small yogurts and fresh fruit.

I really enjoyed our stay at The Coast! *Our 2nd floor room was simply nice, clean and cool with a beautiful view of the pool. And the coffee, fruit, and bread breakfast, that was delivered to our room, was light and just right. We appreciated the daily choice of breakfast items. *The private beach area was well kept and it was awesome to sit and relax in the loungers while watching the sunset every night, to say the least. Security was provided to keep non-guest and beach vendors out. *The pool was refreshing on hot days and there was even a place to shower off the sand when coming in from the beach. *The Coast is about a 10min walk from the main strip which is awesome for us as the surrounding area and beach was quiet and by far less busy, but close enough to walk to the main strip with relative ease. I think Fitbit is proud of my daily number of steps. ;) My only two complaints are that you are not allowed to have personal guest (for me it was immediate family not staying at The Coast) visit with you in the private beach area and when I asked about the laundry facilities, they said they didn't have any. :/ Maybe this was a misunderstanding between us. Regardless, if I ever came back to Tamarindo Beach, The Coast is where I would stay again. They got my vote!

Ideal location, away from the noisy part of town, but close enough to walk. Right on the beach -- we could see the waves from our unit. The upstairs suite was perfect for our family, and exactly as depicted in the photos.

We had a great stay. This property is amazing. We stayed in family suit with balcony facing the beach. The room was large, clean, with kitchen. This property has access to the best part of the beach. I would highly recommend this place.

Great property on the beach... small and quiet. It's a 5 minute walk to town on the beach but when tide is up, you have to walk the street, which is about a 10 minute walk. We had the 2-bedroom villa which was perfect for our family. The patio was awesome. The pool is great. The morning breakfast was a light snack. Had to go to town for food each day, so on long excursion days it was inconvenient but worth it.

Staying at The Coast was one of the best beach experiences of my life. I stayed with my wife and two kids, ages 11 and 9. The rooms appeared to be fully occupied and there were always plenty of beach and pool chairs open. For many hours of the day we had the pool to ourselves. The tree canopy between the pool and the beach was amazing. It was the perfect spot to enjoy the beach and stay out of the sun. One day a monkey climbed overhead! Of course, a few steps further and there’s all the sun you could ever want with at least 50 meters of sand before reaching the ocean at low tide.
