The place is very beautiful and the service is great. All the staff was very friendly and made us feel right at home. I want to give the special shut out to the manager Rosa who went an extra mile to offer us freshly cut aloe juice from their garden when she saw that we got sun burned on the beach (it works great when it’s fresh!). It’s also a great place for surfing lessons. The only minor improvement I would make is the quality of pillows in the rooms which weren’t the greatest. We would definitely choose this place again, it’s great for a family vacation.

Really fantastic property; very unique and high quality. I think it is the best small boutique hotel property in the entire area. We Will absolutely return and will bring our whole family.

Our stay was great! The pool was beautiful, during the day could see monkeys and iguanas! We stayed in one of the bungalows, which were beautiful. The outdoor shower was great (don't leave your key inside though as the door locks automatically). The town was fun, close enough to walk to but gets loud and thumping at night. The hotel is perfect distance to it, if we stayed in a hotel closer to town, we would have been up all night with the dance music. This hotel was very quiet at night. The staff were nice, the servers and bartenders could be a little surly. There was one server who was fantastic but I can't remeber his name :(. The other guests were a little older, I would say the hotel is child tolerant, but nothing about the hotel is really geared toward children. It was quiet and relaxed and I appreciated that very much.

The good: The staff and facilities at the hotel are amazing... beautiful views, good restaurant and the downtown area is a short 10min walk on the beach. I booked this for my BF's bday and we got a garden view room with the ocean view. It was really nice. There were monkeys all around, we even saw two little babies! Had a close call with a raccoon twice, nature all around :) Not so good: the first night I was there I had huge cockroach crawl on me while I was outside on the patio, same night a skunk ran under my chair. The skunk visited the 2nd night as well. 2 days into our trip I noticed I was getting bitten while sleeping. Woke up twice while napping and could feel something biting me. There were tiny little bugs in the bed, maybe ants or sand fleas, NBD. I called the front desk and they said they'd send a maintenance person, great. We woke up the next day and there were at least 4 really huge roaches dead on the room floor and 2 grasshoppers. I guess they sprayed or something and everything that was in there came out? Same issue the next day. I informed the employee at the front desk during checkout (in Spanish so I could make sure he understood) he said nothing. The staff had also said they would arrange for a cake to be made for the special bday celebration. I never saw a cake or an email as to why it didn't happen.

We had a bonus day in tamarindo due to flight cancellations, had to give up our rental house as we only had for a week. After doing some quick research on Expedia, came across Capitan Suizo… from the pictures, I remember walking by the hotel on a walk (it's the furthest resort on the southern part of beach). I recalled thinking how nice/beachy/private it looked. We reserved a bungalow which could easily have a family of 3 comfortably. Almost a $100 cheaper on Expedia. We only had the afternoon and evening at hotel, as we had a 6:50 am flight. Soo wish we could've stayed longer! The staff brought us complimentary boxed breakfast. The restaurant was the best meal we had eaten (lunch especially!). The grounds are so lush and beautiful. The beach is the best, the loungers have plush cushions. Ping pong and pool on shady part the beach. Cute kitties, raccoons, monkeys roam. We will definitely stay here when we come back. Wish someone would get married here!
