We have been to FCM many times and this was the first visit in several years. The room rates are way up and the quality of the facility and service has gone the other direction. We had a king deluxe room on the top floor. Washroom was small and had a commercial wall hung toilet that had no seat cover! It was hard to flush and constantly ran. Shower curtain clips were not secured and the room was old and musty. For $500 night you'd expect more. Lower level bar and restaurant has been closed for renovations for quite some time so there is no other optionsfor families, suite numbers for the rooms are a piece of painters tape with hand written numbers. Planter pots have been used in the flower beds for flowers rather than the beds themselves so the grounds are nowhere near as beautiful. Breakfast buffet in he morning is less than half of what it used to be and not worth the price. Dinners were great, thankfully. We golfed yesterday at the FMC course and got rained out after 10 holes. We did get a 9 hole rain check and when we tried to have a drink upstairs in the lounge we were told that both the kitchen and the bar at the golf course were closed...not even a bar cart on the course. I was a Fairmont Circle member years ago and knew many of the senior execs at Fairmont and FMC. They never would have tolerated such a drop in service and facilities. Clearly the new owners are running a tight budget and not providing the money needed to provide the experience you'd expect at FMC!

Unique 1930s art deco, all log, biggest log building in the world. Fairmont seems to be neglecting it a bit which is a shame. Also evening entertainment is limited or not available. The food was absolutely outstanding kudos to the chef I have been to this place as a child when it was the scenery, club and run by Billionaire equivalent members, nowadays Fairmont needs to bring it back to the standard. It used to hold it needs good evening entertainment, although the restaurant is top notch.

I thought that the staff were great at helping me with needs but they needed to take better care of children running around the lobby while we were trying to enjoy a quiet drink around the fireplace

I’ve stayed here several times over the years but not in a while. The hotel needs upgrading as it is getting old. Still very good ambience in the lobby. Staff training indifferent. Stayed in an over-expensive junior suite in a basement that had nothing for us except the usual tea and coffee. Not even a card saying “welcome” or a little chocolate. Also it needed to be better maintained: peeling wall paper, broken base board heater. But the biggest disappointment was the restaurant for dinner. Couldn’t make the mixed drink we ordered. Out of oysters, lamb shank tough, server inattentive. But to end more positively, the breakfast buffet was excellent!

Friendly, attentive service from staff in all areas from arrival to leaving, helpful in every way imaginable. Wonderful amenities. Especially appreciated a dedicated lane for serious swimming in the centre of the indoor pool, allowing children and families to freely enjoy the rest of the space in the way they wanted;a great way to do it for the school break period. Kudos also for the broad range of special activities included in the room price during the mid-winter school break period.

Check in is not until 4pm, and the pool closed at 6. We booked this room for a family getaway with our son. For the price of the room, on a week day with a hotel that seems to close down shortly after check-in, it was quite disappointing.
