Hotel Universel Montreal

The rooms and facilities (including two swimming pools) are clean, up-to-date, and in good repair. The restaurant staff are friendly and service is fast. Wifi cut out occasionally. The hotel is especially good for family stays, with free and ample parking being a big plus. Easy access to Métro, with restaurants and a grocery nearby.

We loved the location. Everything was great, especially the free parking and the restaurant. I didn't find the breakfast overpriced compared to other breakfast restaurants. We didn't get to use the pool, unfortunately. Like most other hotels, we could hear other guests. I woke up to a toddler crying and t chatting loudly quite early in the morning but the hotel doesn't claim to have soundproofed walls, so that is to be expected at most places in this price range. The AC unit kept us very comfortable. However, the sound of it turning on during the night could wake light sleepers. Overall good experience. Great water pressure too!

Good stay for a family to be near the Botanical garden. Our room was clean and the staff were gentles. Not exceptional, but good and clean.

We were in town for a soccer tournament and it was perfect for what we needed. My kids loved the indoor pool (outdoor pool not open yet for the season), easy and free parking, location was great. Staff was friendly. Room was spacious enough but beds were quite hard. Asked for a cot and it was delivered quickly.

Unfortunately we did not have a great experience at this hotel. It was clean and well kept, and right next to the bio-dome which was great! However, we requested an infant bed for our daughter which they didn’t tell us that they couldn’t provide one until 1 hour before check in. We had already arrived in the city. We also were told that the restaurant would be open and when we went down to get a table they couldn’t accommodate us. The food looked good so we ordered room service from the restaurant instead and were told we would have to go down to the restaurant to pick it up. After picking it up, we had our meal and started dessert come to find out that the cheese layer in the cake had gone bad. When i went back down to speak to someone about it the reply from the restaurant manager was “yes maybe it went bad”. It didn’t leave me feeling great. On top of that he offered us a refund for the dessert that went bad and then refunded the wrong credit card. I didn’t bother calling to correct it as I just don’t want to continue to deal with this. The last and final issue I had was the room temperature. It was so hot in the room and the hotel had not turned on the AC or had anyway to cool the room down. It was very humid and uncomfortable. In the end I don’t think I would recommend this hotel. It didn’t leave me with a great feeling!

Hotel has had some renovations which make the rooms enjoyable! Best part is definitely the proximity to the Stade. We always choose this hotel when we go to a soccer game. Pool is nice and warm, perfect for kids.

Convenient spot to stay at with kids. They loved the pool. Also walking distance to Biodome and all the activities we were doing. Only complaint are the beds. they are small as a double. Im 5'9 and my feet stuck out. And the mattress is very hard.

Some people with families were very inconsiderate letting their kids run and yell in the hallways as well as slamming doors after 10 pm. Hotel was great besides these undisciplined children.
