StFX University Summer Hotel

I had a nice stay. It was clean and had everything I needed in the room. The bed was quite hard for me but may suit some. The only thing I found very strange is I was with an infant and charged for a bed to put them in for each night which isn’t something that’s ever happened to me before and Iv been travelling will children for 23 years.

Overall our stay was ok and I would stay there again if needed however there are things that could definitely be improved upon. We rented 8 rooms and most of the employees we dealt with were excellent and a few that were quite unhelpful. For the most part it seemed clean aside from us being switched to a new room because our toilet was broken and the new room sheets were not on the bed properly and one of the comforters did not have a duvet cover at all which makes you question if the sheets were changed or in the process and not finished. The pool and gym were under construction (which we found out upon arrival). Since the pool could not be used and there is no outdoor seating anywhere we went to the soccer field to let the kids play and stay out of the way of the front entrance but were told we could not be in the area and it was locked up. This is definitely lacking in what other amenities your typical hotel has to offer for large groups or extended stays and more of a one night stay if you are touring the campus. Also, our keys constantly stopped working for the front door and the elevator was broken the day we were checking out so carrying lots of luggage down flights of stairs was quite an inconvenience. The free laundry on site was a benefit and location is great right in the center of everything.

Wonderful stay at St. FX! Family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids, 9 and 13). Our room had 2 double beds and our own bathroom. Very clean. Free laundry. Within walking distance to Tim Hortons, McDonalds and a couple other restaurants. The building we stayed in was next to the highway but it was super quiet. Campus was nice to get out for a walk. Beds weren't very comfortable for our liking, but good if you like a firm mattress.

Property was great, we had a two bedroom for our family and it was convenient, clean and quiet.

It was very easy getting to the property, as well as checking in. Staff was quite friendly and helpful: a request for a cot was dealt with in less than 10 minutes (and staff set it up themselves!). Room was clean, fridge has ample room, and washroom had everything we needed (we brought our own amenities apart from towels, tissues and soap, and these were readily available). If these are actual dorm rooms during the school year, then students may be spoiled (that’s a HUGE fridge for just one person!). TV provides access to basic cable; it seems someone had tried to access NetFlix before us but only error messages appeared. Several rooms in the building seemed readily accessible and available to lounge in and chat with other guests. Campus grounds are great for strolls, and many fast food/take-out places nearby on James Street (with legendary pizza joint The Wheel virtually only a walk across campus). Only concern: not sure how to set the air conditioning in the bedroom (if one can set it at all), as the evening was warmer than optimal but the air conditioning came on by itself after I was awake and out of bed. Perhaps not the best place to stay if one has kids with them as the rooms aren’t family-sized for play or spreading out (unless one uses the common rooms for play), but I myself would definitely stay here again!

When I arrived there was signs all over the parking lot saying no overnight parking, when asked about it at the desk I was told the lot for overnight parking was to the right when you go out the door and facing the building. There is 3 lots and they all have signs for no overnight parking so When I called and went by the gentlemans instructions I finally found what I assumed was the lot he was talking about but when I gave him the lot number he couldn't even tell me if that's the right one or not. When booking the room it says it would be suitable for 2 adults and a child, lucky my wife decided to stay home last minute because the bed was tiny, I'm 6'2 and my feet were hanging off the end of the bed and there is no possible way you could sleep 2 adults and a child of any age in that room, 2 adults in the bed is pushing the limits a bit. The mattress is also probably the most uncomfortable mattress I've ever slept on. After getting connected to the internet I figured I would put Netflix on for my son to watch cartoons while I got things sorted out, after trying to connect the smart tv in the room to the internet for about 15-20 mins puzzled why it won't pick up a wifi network I call the front desk and am told that the smart TVs don't connect to the internet and we have basic cable in the room. The room was also very warm and there is no access to the thermostat to adjust the temperature so that unfortunately made it difficult to sleep. Can't say I would return here

Beautiful campus. Suite was nice with kids. The beds and pillows were terrible unfortunately.

Good location. Fair value. Very noisy place (thin walls). Good for a family or group travel as it has its own common kitchen and dining areas. staff is helpful and friendly.

The university campus environment is interesting. Excellent for parents staying over for kids weekend competitions.
