Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront

This property made our vacation wonderful. Easy beach access and a fantastic view, with great complimentary breakfast and staff. There was a leak in the shower that led over to a water damaged wall, but that didn’t impact anything for us. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked very nice, and was well-loved by the children staying at the hotel :)

The location is great, right on the boardwalk within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. I checked in online the day before our sceduled arrival for a 1:30pm check in which was surprising that we were able to get in the room a little sooner than expected. The young lady at the front desk that was activating the key for the door was nice and pleasant, however she couldnt answer any of my questions. I asked for the wifi password and that she activate the mobile key option so that I could use my phone instead but she did not know how to help with either. Another woman walked out from behind the office- dripping with attitude and jumped into the conversation to "help" The only thing she did was set me off and make an unfortunate situation worse. When I told her she needed to rein in her attitude she doubled down with her "district manager" title and how she was only trying to help. But "had I booked directly with Marriott", I would have had all the app features and benefits. Had Marriot been the cheaper option, I would have booked directly through Marriott. But they allow a 3rd party to outbid them and I have a family to feed, so whoever is going to save me the most money is who I'll book with, which is what I told them. The 1st young lady then answered the phone and I had to wait until she was finished with her conversation to wrap up my check in so that I could go get my family. Not impressed with the "manager". Really Unpleasant.

My kids and I love this place. Does not disappoint!

Staff was very nice. Our room was beautiful and clean. The gym and pool were super clean and accessible. Breakfast was amazing and the beach was nice during spring break. I recommend booking at this location if you are a family with small children.

very family friendly & welcoming

I hate to leave a negative review as my family has stayed here twice before, but I will never book with this hotel again. I booked through Expedia and paid in full, the day before our planned stay, my 5 year old tested positive for Covid and was very sick. I immediately contacted Expedia to change dates as I wasn’t able to travel with a sick child nor did I want to infect other hotel guests. They told me the hotel had no available dates for the next 2 months and submitted a request to the hotel for a refund since they weren’t able to change my dates and my child was sick and we couldn’t make our stay. Expedia later contacted me and informed me that the hotel manager wouldn’t approve a refund. So I am now out $400 for 2 nights at a hotel I wasn’t even able to be at because I had a child with Covid. I’m beyond upset and disappointed because we did have a great experience the last 2 times we stayed but we won’t be staying again.

Clean, family oriented, peaceful. Had a wonderful stay here. We stayed for 4 nights will definitely come back.

I already reviewed this property earlier through Expedia. It was a great stay and we were very glad we chose Fairfield for our hotel. Family of four, adult kids, picky eaters. Loved the breakfast, loved the room with the balcony and walked to the beach twice a day. Can’t get better than that. We needed a nice and relaxing place to stay. Thank you to all the staff!

Upon check in on June 7th, 2023, the front desk clerk went above and beyond to help us. She was very courteous and welcoming. The desk clerk was assuming on the day of early check out June 9th 2023. This desk clerk acted as thoigh I was interrupting her, and she would not acknowledge me at first. I had to check out early due to a family emergency. I told the desk clerk what I needed to do, and she immediately and sternly informed me "you're not getting a refund for your last night." I politely told her "I realize this," and asked her what was the correct procedure for room key return. The desk clerk (june 9th) stated " you can leave the keys in the room, or leave them here in this cup ( on the feont desk).
