Hotel Indigo Old Town Alexandria, an IHG Hotel

We were there for a family situation/visit. The room felt soooo old. We have stayed there before and the room we had previously was quite nicer. This room felt old and dark. The lighting in the bathroom area was terrible. The room needs more light. The bathroom shower while it looked very clean had some mold in various spots, which freaks me out! I was very disappointed with the room itself.

The lady working overnight was not pleasant at all. I tried to book a room on Friday night in person after being on the road for 20 hours and she wouldn’t let me book in person and was VERY rude throughout the process. She said I had to do it online, it was 2 am, we were too tired to even figure it out and slept in our car… we ended up booking online for the ride back because the kids really wanted to stay there.. this is pretty unacceptable in 2024 that the front desk is incapable of booking a room at the desk…. We saw her again checking in and she was more a bit more pleasant this time since we had a room but I have to tell you working with her was extremely painful. You guys may want to reevaluate your staff, this is the hospitality industry. May not be for everyone.

We stay here every time we come to Alexandria to visit our son and his family. We’ve been here at least 10 times and it is our only go to spot while we visit. We love the hotel, we love the situation along the river, and the proximity to King Street, and all the shops and restaurants. We will be back again and again and again.

Reception staff was absolutely amazing with myself and my kid - I applaud this great a hotel customer service which I have rarely experienced in the US - we will be back !

Hotel Indigo is in a great location and it's very quiet for sleeping. The rooms are nice, clean, well appointed. We've stayed here before when Indigo hosted a family birthday party and it was well done. The staff is friendly. The big issue was parking. We paid $30/night for parking, and there weren't enough spaces in the basement garage! We had to park on the ramp two nights, which made me nervous that someone would clip our car. There were 2 or 3 handicap spaces used by non-handicapped vehicles, 3 cars were on the ramp, one car was on the side of the elevator room, etc. Plus, an attendant asked us every time we came in if we were registered at the hotel. Clearly, the hotel should have told guests they didn't have enough spaces and to park across the street for $10 all day or $20 on weekends---or have a deal with them so it was in/out access for 24 hours.

great location. Alexandria is darling. My only issue was pillows. So lumpy, just awful; I had to sleep with no pillow. Spouse and kids also NEVER have pillow problems and they agreed with me.

Location is amazeballs! You are literally on the Potomac River, smack dab in the middle of some of the best shops and restaurants the area has to offer. Super comfy beds, beefy pillows and a shower that is practically a religious experience (seriously hot with great water pressure). Lovely staff (especially the front desk person who rescued us after we got locked out taking our dog for a 5:00 a.m. walk – I will name my next child after you as promised.) Book now.
