What a cool hotel! Very old & historic — dating back to the late 1800’s. Keep in mind, it is still 2 stars, so it’s relatively basic, but my family & I really enjoyed such a unique property! Somewhat reasonably priced too, compared to most hotels these days. We also really liked Deadwood - such a fun little Western town!

A classy historical hotel. Parking was a bit of a hassle but it was not the fault of the hotel. Overall a great hotel that I would recommend to friends and family.

The hotel is rich with history and I enjoyed the overall vibe. The check in staff were friendly and the room was clean. If our stay would have ended at check out, I would have given the establishment a 4 star rating. However, we decided to have breakfast in their restaurant, Bully’s, on our way out of town. My husband and I placed our order. Shortly after 4 more customers came in. Meanwhile, the cook would come out and rudely ask if this food was ours and show us plates of food. This went on until everyone else’s orders were filled. I asked where our order was and he snapped and said “ I’ve been working on 3 orders at the same time!” His behavior was childish and quite bizarre. The most upsetting was hearing him yell at the elderly waitress. I’m 53 years old and have never seen such horrific customer service skills. Needless to say, we walked out and will never walk back in there again.

So Bad ! paid for upgraded room so we didnt have to sleep in a full bed 240 for the night room was smaller than small ! asked to be moved due to bed size and a/c not working, basically they said oh well ? So we sweat it out with basically no sleep due to the rooms are so noisy its like we may have been sleeping in the hallway, door lock also questionable.... live intertainment in basement bar LOL some kids playing around on solo guoitar fighting with each other, at 9pm on a friday ? slots a joke and parking uggg .. Trust me i never give reviews and this is the real deal !! Zero stars

Great hotel with history! Awesome experience! Would like to experience the hotel & city without children next time. Not as convenient for kids in Deadwood, especially being the only city in South Dakota that allows gambling. Some surrounding restaurants close very early, but Mustang Sally's is right across from hotel which is children friendly and tasty food & drinks!

We stayed for two nights in late August and loved it! We have family in Sturgis, so we visit the area every year and have always wanted to try this hotel. The location cannot be more perfect, it’s on the Main Street, so you can literally walk to all the restaurants, shops, and casinos that are only minutes away. The hotel’s Victorian-style interior adds to the historical feel the building has. I know the hotel changed ownership in recent years and hope they don’t decide to renovate the rooms, at least not drastically. I’d come back just for the authenticity and would be extremely disappointed if the rooms became too modern and generic. We chose a room with a king-sized bed. The sheets were clean, there were extra pillows in the cabinets, room was spacious, even the TV was surprisingly large (I’ve been to more expensive hotels with tiny TVs). Wifi was super fast (also unusual in my experience). The staff were all very nice and helpful. The casino downstairs is the only area in the hotel that could, imo, use a bit of a rejuvenation. I’m far from a casino expert and spent very little time there, but it wasn’t nearly as busy as some of the other casinos around, indicating there are more popular choices nearby. As of the haunted aspect of the hotel - we did catch some stuff on our equipment the first night. Nothing extreme, but it was fun nonetheless, and we are convinced the hotel is definitely haunted. Overall I cannot be happier with this stay.
