The Restoration is a property and experience unlike any other. I have stayed all over Charleston and I lived there for over a decade and I have never had such a great experience at any establishment in Charleston. The staff were kind, warm, and went above and beyond to make me and my two kids ( ages 4 & 6) feel right at home. Many 5 Star rated hotels and resorts are great but the staffs smiles and attitude is very artificial and generic, you can tell they are just going through the motions. This is deff not the case at the Restoration. We will be back again and again.

The hotel puts on a nice performance to appear trendy, but when it comes to basic care for its guests, it falls short. In addition to a cockroach in the room, the A/C stopped working overnight and by 4am became intolerable for us and our baby, leaving us with very little sleep. While the overnight staff kindly moved us to a new room, the morning staff lead showed zero regret or remorse for the situation. He begrudgingly offered one extra hour of late check out upon request, and demanded we pay 150$ / hr for anything further. He treated our lack of sleep and attempts to recover as if it was our fault, not the hotel’s broken A/C. We will go somewhere else next time that shows more care for its guests.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. Everything from check in to check out has been a 5-star experience. Visiting Charleston was part of our babymoon and this hotel has made the stay wanting us to stay longer if we could.
