Tru by Hilton Grove City Columbus

Last minute decision to make reservation to watch family member in softball tournament. First time staying with a Tru hotel and will definitely stay again.

One of the two rooms I reserved was not ready at check in. Pool was closed due to a chemical issue (whole reason we chose that location was so kids could swim). Half the property was under construction and we had to walk through construction stuff to get to room. Flooring was ripped up and wall paper hanging off. None of this was warned ahead of time.

Its was an wonderful place to stay. Staff friendly. Very clean. Room very nice and up to date. Only thing i didnt like was that the breakfast doesnt consist of non pork meat. My family and i dont eat pork and that was the only breakfast meat provided.

Our 1st time staying at a Tru by Hilton hotel. There was some type of youth softball event the weekend preceding the 4th of July so the hotel was full of children and teens. The amount of children and pets did not make for a quiet stay as kids ran through the halls each night at bedtime. A leashed dog leapt and walked down the couch near us while we were having breakfast one morning. The hotel lobby smelled nice and was clean. As empty nesters my husband and I will be more inquisitive of local events prior to booking and selective of where we choose to stay during the summer months.

Rooms were not even close to being available at the posted check-in time of 3pm due to “staff shortage” or “linens still in the dryer” or “we are a double property and only have 4 cleaning people.” In 4 hours, that cleaning crew had only l cleaned 3 rooms! We had to settle for a smaller room over an hour later just so we could get ready for an event we were already made late for. We later found out the hotel was overbooked for the second night in a row, so we were lucky to get a room at all. The room had broken hooks, broken bathroom light, broken window shade, and a dirty floor. We made the room work for the night only to be awakened at 6:12am on a Sunday because a kid set the fire alarm off. Although this last part wasn’t the fault of the property it was the cherry on top of all of the other mess. If you are in town and have scheduled plans, keep in mind that this property may not have rooms available until well after check-in time, may not have the size room you already paid for, and/or may be overbooked so you don’t have a room at all.

Updated and nice looking hotel. Nice staff. Didn’t get breakfast due to fussing kids but it smelled delicious. Room was small but ok for 4 of us plus a dog.

The property itself is clean and decent. However, we got the worst sleep ever, made our first phone call ever to a front desk to complain about the noise above us. The room floors are laminate, and there were 3 children above us jumping off the beds, racing back and forth. It was New Year's Eve and I believe the oldest child must have been babysitting while the parents were out celebrating. (I can't imagine a present parent allowing it.) Anyhow, we called the front desk, and the clerk told us they had been trying to get them to calm down for over an hour. Two hours later, the noise continued. Overall it was a horrible experience. Next time, I will look for a place that doesn't advertise "family friendly".

Steven at check in was exceptional. Had to call about kids noise in room next door at 10 pm. Do not like bed platforms!! Mattresses are smaller than frame by about 4-6” and slid back and forth getting in and out causing back of calves to get hit. Loved everything else about our stay.
