The staff is lovely and the food was good. However the smell of the room and in the hallways was so disgusting I felt nauseous and for that reason will never go back. I was also unable to use the pool as it was full of screaming children every time I went.

This was our first trip to Blowing Rock -- single mom with three little boys. Checking in was easy. Upon arrival, we were informed that the restaurant would be closed for an undetermined period of time. The town of Blocking Rock is not an easy place to have young children, however. Little to no dining available unless you have an advance reservation or want to wait 3 hours to be served. Parties of 12-18 people without reservations ahead of you. Everywhere. Lines out the door. The local spots do not appear to update their Google profiles either as most places we tried to visit were not open despite appearing as such online. Will not be returning unless we have a kitchen available as dining is not convenient at all.

Our stay was nothing short of phenomenal! From the moment we turned into the entrance until we sadly pulled away. It was such a pleasure to be in a kind, welcoming environment. Every single staff member we encountered was absolutely the epitome of service excellence! Kudos to everyone! We felt like part of the family. Great location to so many activities. We hiked right from the property, used the wonderful recreation center every night and laughed until we cried playing ping pong.(We are in our 60’s) and enjoyed most meals at the restaurant. The food and service outstanding. We enjoyed our stay so much we already booked another trip! Thank you Chetola Resort for making our anniversary spectacular!

Chetola is a beautiful, relaxing resort, however there were several maintenance problems and many amenities unavailable. Most importantly, the POOL HEATER WAS BROKEN and has been broken for a while, with NO NOTICE on their website to the consumer. We chose this location primarily for the heated pool for the children, but it was totally unavailable and they do not know when it will be fixed. The lake activities were also unavailable. The television in the room did not work, but they did send a worker to fix it. The coffee maker light switch did not work, so I moved it to the bathroom. Also, the concierge did not seem to know about when places were open. This visit was not up to the standards that I expect at Chetola. I hope they will improve in the future.

I was disappointed in the availability of activities. The pool heater was not working (which we saw on website) but then tennis courts not available at the same time - could this be prevented so that 2 major activities were not inactive at same time)? Also, they could not find the bocce balls and the corn hole equipment was also not available on the lawn. Only one table top tennis set up - the other inside seemed to be broken and the one outside not set up. Impressed with everything else about our stay but those things were disappointing to our kids as it was too early for boats and the activities were limited as it was. We did not stay for Easter activities but they seemed to be interesting - we had to check out and tickets for Grandfather Mountain.

Room was good, and check in personnel was friendly and efficient. However, serving staff and meal in restaurant was overpriced and inedible. $29.00 for a tough steak, slow service, and when asked what was problem, was told "you're not the only one's I'm taking care of". Inexcusable for a server, especially after waiting nearly 25 minutes for juice and chocolate milk for the kids. Bar was excellent, no problems there, quick, efficient. No A/C in one of our rooms, and problems with hot water until finally got that fixed. (i can live with the water problem, as they were working on pipes, but no AC is a problem in June.
