Green Park Inn

The inn is very tired. We had a pet friendly room and it matched nothing in the pictures they advertise for room selection. Housekeeping was non existent. Told to put my dirty towels outside the room and they were still there when I left the next day. The toilet paper holder was 6” off the floor and on the same wall as the toilet. Try to reach around and use???The lock for the door going out to the porch was a slide bolt lock and installation looked like a child installed. Breakfast was served by reservation and fixed to order, sounds great, only one person working the whole dining room and was told she also had to do some cooking. You could tell she was overwhelmed. My wife’s waffles were ice cold. The check in clerk was very friendly. The inn has lots of charm and could be wonderful but the owners are not reinvesting in the property.

The Green Park Inn has a lot of charm but the end is beginning to run down. The best part was the music in the lobby on Friday and Saturday night. Great Entertainment and fun family event.

OK, please keep in mind I gave five starts for everything, keeping in mind I am reviewing the HISTORICAL Hotel! Of course this is not a modern building but the place is well kept up, people are REALLY nice there, our family including kids enjoying submerging into a past.

Having visited BR in my childhood I admired the Green Park Inn. Property was nice. Dinner service was OK. Breakfast was served slowly and grits were cold. It is time for beds to be replaced.

Our family loves it at this hotel.

Large junior suite was very comfortable. I never know what to expect in a historical property, but this one could benefit from some sprucing up. Common areas needed light bulbs replaced and cob webs removed. Some staff was very engaging, other just doing the job. Bed was comfortable shower was good. I think a chain hotel (think Omni) could come in and update to make this hotel a showplace. Across the street from entrance to Blowing Rock. A couple of miles from downtown. Cozy bar that closes 9pm. Nice made to order breakfast to start day off right. No working elevator might make it difficult for some.

Green Park has the charm and nostalgia of an early 20'th c. hotel yet has been remodeled with all modern conveniences. The staff is cordial, accommodating and friendly; you're made to feel like returning family and not just another guest. You can rock, as in rocking chair, on the front porch in the cool mountain air, enjoy the local "piano man " on Fri or Sat. night in the salon; there are area highlights that may interest you; but the main thing is the charm and ambiance of the Inn itself.
