Thayer Hotel

Visiting daughters and family living on West Point. Made trip and visit convenient and comfortable.

I was surprised that the hotel was so noisy you could hear right through the walls. Also furniture in lobby etc needs updating. They charge a facility fee for things other hotels offer for free. You basically are paying to subsidize the recruiting of students whose families get everything for free. I unfortunately left a light coat behind in lobby seeing how I live 4 hrs away I asked for it to be mailed. They only would do it by adding it to my credit card. My husband left something in Vegas and it was automatically shipped for free! They could put it towards the facility fee for the “coffee” we drank. Unfortunately, we will stay at another hotel next year when we attend the gymnastics meet.

Although my family has been at the Thayer many times over the years, we always find new experiences and new memories.

Room soundproofing is not good. You can hear the alarm clock from the next door. Other guest children made loud noises and kicking after 11pm at corridor; and babies crying sound in the early morning. If I paid the same price for the room, why can I enjoy my sleep?!

Great location and view from the window. Atmospher was excellent. Only negative was had to have two rooms for family of four.
