Hyatt Place Poughkeepsie

The hotel is affordable with a free breakfast making it convenient for a family traveling.

I booked two rooms last minute for me and some family members, including for children under 12. When we tried to check in, they only had one room available and didn’t care to look at my reservation. Customer service was terrible and it was late so we had to leave to find another hotel. They refused to give me a refund. I will never go back.

When I checked in I was unaware and not informed by staff that there was a private party in the lobby and a wedding in the meeting rooms. The noise from music, unattended children in the hallway, and intoxicated people made me and my family feel unsafe. This went on till about 1 AM! The staff should've given me the choice to have a room on the upper floor instead assigned me RM 101 right next to the wedding and lobby restrooms. Obviously didn't sleep much. Thought the hotel had a time to limit noise but it was not enforced.

Property was super clean and centrally located but the loudest hotel I have ever stayed at. I understand hotels can be noisy and that’s fine but there was first music blaring (I’m not a cranky person either but this was shaking the walls) until 10:30pm then small children (4-5 years old) were being allowed to run up and down the halls screaming at 11:30pm for HOURS. When I called to complain the front desk woman acted like she didn’t even think children were staying and said she would try to figure it out and call a room…..why not just look at the cameras….. you can see them! When the noise continued I walked down to front desk where the gentleman was apologetic but said there was nothing he could really do. And the fan in the room wouldn’t stay on non- stop to drown out the noise. Otherwise the place was very nice.

My room was nice and clean. It probably isn't entirely the hotel's fault, but I had a terrible night. It was so noisy ... there was a family or group yelling and screaming and crashing around above me until past 2 am. The walls were vibrating. At first I thought there was some midnight construction project going on outside, until I heard the kid's voices. At times, it felt like bombs were going off. It occurs to me that maybe I should start going for more expensive hotels if I want sleep. The clientele here truly left something to be desired. The free breakfast was pretty awful. I can blame the hotel for that. The oatmeal was just white-colored water, not even hot. The toaster barely warmed the bread, despite sending it through three times. The waffles were like cardboard, the eggs like plastic. I couldn't eat it. The coffee was ok, fortunately, as was the orange juice. No pastries, though.

We were very happy with our stay at Hyatt Place, Poughkeepsie. The check in went well in spite of some confusion about the reservation. The room was neat, clean and spacious. Breakfast was lovely. The dining area was clean and accommodated all the guests. The beds could have been a bit more firm for me, but the other guests in our room found them to be comfortable. All in all great stay! I would recommend Hyatt Place to friends and family.

Road trippers should always pay the few extra bucks and stay at the Hyatt. If you have a child or two, take the room with the sofa that pulls out. That area functions like a small living room and you can eat at that little table. Great plus. The feeling of the property is high end. The toiletries are actually excellent. Breakfast varies but are generally OK. Gives more of a four star than three star vibe for a slight bit more.

The hotel and room itself were very nice and clean. The parking was close by with easy access to the hotel. Breakfast was included and there were nice amenities like a business center, gym, and pool. The other guests were the only negative. On Friday night we had a couple next door and in the hall playing music and arguing until 4am. Management came up several times but it did not deter them. Saturday night the kids above us kept jumping off of the beds. It sounded like they were going to come through the ceiling any minute. This lasted from 8 until 10:30 or so. Other than that the staff was lovely and the hotel was clean and nice.

Brand new and beautiful! Located in a great spot - my whole family was impressed!
