The Box House Hotel

Fantastic studio apartment, just right for parents with small children. Unique and funky place.

We got a room with a loft bedroom, no view, only a sky-well from where if you made an effort, you could barely get a glimpse of the sky & all furniture were shabby, old. For two 70-year-olds it was the most difficult stair to negotiate. The staff told us, that they have two weddings going on, so this is the only room they have available. My brother & his family came & they got the rooms upstairs in a one floor flat room, new furniture, good views of the river & outside.

We recently stayed at the Box House for a family wedding. We enjoyed several of the area restaurants and really liked how walkable the Greenpoint area is.

I made a reservation months in advance to stay at the Box Hotel. We were excited to go to a wedding and at the same time be close to our children who live in Brooklyn. A health situation forced us to cancel- 2 weeks in advance of our stay. We had paid in full. The hotel under "No" circumstance would refund our money or even offer a credit for a future stay. We several of the hotel staff who could care less-which amplifies the frustration of the situation. Just want visitors to know-you (the client) don't really matter there are plenty of people coming to NY they don't need you and don't care.

Loved this place. Lovely aesthetic, bright, artsy, open and full of light. We stayed in a family suite...loft apartment, adorably appointed...lots of space, kitchen amenities, tub to soak in after the day out. The bar menu is basic and overpriced, but not unreasonably so, compared to everywhere, currently. We rented a car, and there was ample street parking, and easy access to expressways into the city. Greenpoint has a lot of charm, and I would spend more time, next trip, walking the main streets. Hotel is close to many eateries and conveniences. I would absolutely stay here again.

The hotel was charming. The room was suite like without the price of a suite. I will make this hotel my go to when returning to New York and have already recommended it to friends and family.

We felt so at home at the Box House Hotel! It was like having an apartment. Our whole family enjoyed our stay.

On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, I booked a room at The Box House Hotel because Delta cancelled my family's return flight to Durham, NC, that night. Due to several cancellations at the airport, there were no hotels within a 20-minute drive of La Guardia with rooms. We booked a non-refundable room at The Box House because that was the best available option. When we arrive at baggage claim to grab our things before heading to hotel, we discover that Delta has held our bags--including the car seat for our toddler--until our newly scheduled return flight on Wednesday, July 19. Without the car seat, we were unable to travel to The Box House that night and had to sleep in the airport. When told of the situation, The Box House was unwilling to offer a refund. I acknowledge that we made a non-refundable reservation but, under the circumstances, its unfortunate that no empathy was extended nor an exception made.

Front-desk staff was very welcoming and professional. Room was clean and housekeeping did an amazing job. Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely utilize this hotel again and would recommend to family/friends.

The Box House is located in my old neighbourhood, which I already loved! Lots of restaurants within walking distance, plus a grocery store a block away. We had a room with a kitchenette which was great for traveling with kids during these COVID times - we didn't have to eat inside a restaurant once during our stay! It felt like living in a comfy apartment for four days. We will return!
