The location was in the middle of town. Access left and right to food, store, and freeway. The Route 66 look was awesome. The room was comfortable and large. We had a suite which were 2 adjoining rooms with 1 King and 2 beds in the other. The family was very happy. The room had a record player which for kids that don't know what that is or a pay phone, were talking points and likeness. The actual key to a room took us back years from the normal key card which was cool.

We had a good experience with our family in the suite. Plenty of space and the housekeeper even brought us more sheets for the couch bed before we had to ask.
The kids loved the old elevator and the lobby area. I love the old unique hotel feel. So with old buildings come fun quirks so we were all good with the hotel vibe. We’d definitely stay again.
We liked Gallup too and found a great city playground.

Property has been renovated and the rooms are great! Worked out great for our family. The history of the hotel is really interesting as well. My only complaint was the rooms were slightly dirty and there were some cobwebs. Note that the family suite does not have a microwave or bathtub (if you have little kids). Overall positive stay and I would return.

We got the family suite with 2 queens and 1 king. Both rooms were clean, comfortable, and absolutely adorable. I loved the decorations and feel. We stayed in the Motel side and walked to Hotel for fun. The restuarnt was good too! My only complaint was having a record player instead of a microwave. We cannot wait to stay again but in the Hotel this time!

Our family of five stayed in the family suite and it was plenty of room. The kids loved seeing the movie memorabilia all over the lobby. They thought it was like a Disney hotel with all the cool theming. We also enjoyed lunch at the restaurant, which was delicious and affordable. The staff is so kind and helpful! This hotel is a must stop on your Route 66 adventure!

The place was perfectly restored from back in the day. Definitely would make sure to stay here when in the area. We will be telling family and friends about this place.

The hotel room smelled musty, but we turned the fan on and it improved. Security was in the parking lot and shooed away some kids that wanted money. We came in at night, so be aware of your surroundings.
It took 10 minutes to check-in. Not enough clerks.
Even with these issues, the property is charming. The owners have invested in nice furnishings and we are fans. The restaurant had good food too. We loved all the film history photos and memorabilia.

We got in fairly late, around 8:00 pm but the hotel restaurant was still open and dinner there was excellent and reasonably priced.
The themed rooms were very enjoyable and the lobby was very atmospheric.
My family would like to stay there again the next time we pass through Gallup!

This was an unplanned, last minute trip to “say goodbye” to a family member in a different state. I’d seen this historic hotel on a cross country trip years ago, and found availability for me this trip. I love staying in historic hotels when possible. Although the parking is a bit tight, and many “guests” sit/stand right at the front entry doors to smoke, it is otherwise quite charming and “Old Skool” on the exterior. The lobby and my room were exceptional. I had the great fortune to get the “Lorraine Day” suite, which has a small balcony, on the front side of the the hotel main building. It was fun to walk around looking at all the photos and memorabilia from the early days of “motion pictures”. When big stars didn’t expect to be treated like “royalty”, but instead stayed in comfortable small rooms~ The lobby was quite beautiful and the bar, dining room and gift shop were all open late! If I happen to need to travel east on the I-40 again, I will make it a point to stay at the Hotel El Rancho once again~

What a wonderfully unique place to stay! We were greeted with a smile from the hotel family throughout our entire visit! The food was great, the drinks refreshing, the gift shop amazing, the room relaxing and the price was right! We will be back!
