The Wayside Inn

It's kind of a quirky place with stairs that have a high rise, so a big steps up. Warning, if you're in the main building take a smaller bag to carry up whatever you need for the night. I wouldn't even try to get my suitcase up those stairs. The rooms are nicely decorated, however there were no curtains and the blinds although I managed to lower them, they were missing parts and I couldn't raise them once they were lowered. The bed had a sprung mattress which was really squeaky and I was surprised to discover there was no TV in the room, however they have a comfortable common room with a TV if you don't mind socializing. The wifi was good so if you have a laptop you're fine. The setting on the river looks amazing, but it actually sits on a pretty busy highway so I got to listen to transport trucks all night. It has a newer out building, however I have no idea what those units are like. The dining room has a lovely view of the river and bridge, and the food was good, but don't expect tablecloths and fancy table settings. It's a small family run inn and I can see they are trying very hard to make it a comfortable, homey inn and it does have a cozy feeling. The price is great in comparison with other hotels in the area and having the restaurant makes it worth booking. I suggest you call directly and request a room on the river side if you're a light sleeper.

This was a very homey little hotel in a beautiful area. It was quiet and clean. I was traveling with my husband and two adult children and a 12 yr old. They had a room with a separate area with a door for my husband and I and two queen beds for my boys. A small breakfast was included in a sit down dining room which was a surprise. We received our ordered food quickly. The only complaint was that the juice we got was in a tiny glass.

Great, little inn with a warm feel. Innkeeper and her family are wonderful, food is great, and it's dog-friendly. Will most definitely be back!

Slept like a baby in the room with two twins, which was the perfect place after backpacking with my brother. Clean, spacious, comfy and elegant. Staff were friendly. Full hot breakfast included, overlooking the river.

This unique property was perfect for my family. We liked learning about the history of the place. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was large and clean and filled with antiques. We ate from the restaurant and had drinks at the bar. An overall great experience.

Really nice and beautiful. Perfect place for family and really great restaurant with nice local beers on the menu. We’ll certainly go back to that place.

I’ve been visiting the Mr. Washington area for over 20years, and have stayed at The Wayside Inn many times under the previous ownership. I was very disappointed with the deterioration of this place. Dining room floor was never vacuumed in the 2 days I was there. Inn keeper was not welcoming at all. She stayed barricaded by a baby gate in the bar area. Disappointed with the overall cleanliness of this place.

Was extremely cold outside but was given a space heater to help keep the room warm. The food was great my kids loved the waffles.
