Cottonwood Inn and Conference Center

When we checked out, our car wouldn't start. Everyone was so helpful and helped us get it started. They were wonderful and really went above and beyond. We love staying at the Cottonwood when we visit family!

I have stayed at Cottonwood Inn and Conference Center several times in the past 18 months. On past stays, I was perfectly content with my visit (it why I was a repeat customer). Our stay on June 7th, however, was not pleasant. There was constantly noise that was disturbing until almost 11:00 PM. Stomping on the floor in the room above us (sounded like kids running). Door slamming in the hall. I big pickup truck pulling a race car pulled in just behind our room and the guys got out and started yacking for a while after 10:00 PM. Some issues were with the cheap construction of the hotel (thin wall, thin floors, vinyl floor not carpet, doors that slam shut, and just not very soundproof. Other issues were just inconsiderate guests. End result - I'll be looking for a different place to stay in the Sioux City area on my next trip.

The room we stayed in was basically clean other than finding a beer can under our bed when we first came into the room as our child found it. The complimentary breakfast was terrible. There was outdated fruit, not many items to pick from and the biscuits and gravy were cold! It was pretty disappointing.

Although advertised as checking in at 3:30, we had to wait to check in for the cleaners. Not a huge deal. This is a cheaper hotel, not terrible but nothing I would take my young kids to. The room I had, had an odor to it, opened the dresser up and there were used flossing sticks in there. The bed was cheap and not comfortable. If I was passing through the area just myself (not my family) I would maybe stay here. But nothing I’d bring my family too.

The room was clean and apprared to have been recently remodeled. The night desk clerk made popcorn for us and was super friendly. The problem was at breakfast. There was a large woman stocking the breakfast area who decided to accuse a guest of filling his water bottle with juice and being a theif. He obviously became very upset and tried to show her it was water. She refused to look. He tried to pour a little in a busing tray to provw hw wasnt stealing. She yelled at him for making a mess and told him to get his stuff and get out of the hotel. He went to the front desk to only find ahe followed him there to check him out and they continued going around in circles even as we left a half hour later. She was wrong and then she acted like a child and wouldnt yield as a professional should have. Minus her this is a great hotel. I wouldmt recommend it though based on her. He didnt deserve the treatment and accusations from her.

Not sure how this place has any positive reviewed. It is very outdated. The chair was very uncomfortable. It felt like something was broken and putting pressure on your bum. The bed was tragic. It was so hard I woke up all night long due to pain. There is zero sound proofing barrier. Heard everything from all directions including outside. When the person above me got out of bed and started walking it sounded like someone was coming through the ceiling. Lastly the smell! Lord have mercy. It smells like gas and manure mixed together and had a smelly vomit baby. I woke up coughing up phlegm likely from the smell since I have asthma. Would not recommend this hotel in the slightest. Apparently someone people must be zombie sleepers with so sense of self comfort.

The price point was good and the breakfast choices were okay. Even though the hotel was clean, I felt like the property needed some updating and maintenence. The upstairs vending was broken.We had a lot of trouble with kids running for a while,loud people and slamming doors into the wee hours of the morning. Of course that isn't the hotels fault.

We traveled to Iowa to see family! We choose the Cottonwood convention center because of the location wasn't to far away from family and we could bring our 2 well behaved dogs. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our time there.
