Holiday Inn Express & Suites Starkville, an IHG Hotel

A quick weekend to visit the college kid at MSU. The location is central to everything and a very comfortable sleep.

This is a really nice hotel, however I don’t really think they were prepared for a sell out with all the baseball teams that were coming in. They were short handed, there was only one guy, Mick who was trying to check everyone in and the line was long! He went over and above to make everyone feel welcomed. Our door to our room would not securely lock from the outside. We went to our game and maintenance never showed up during the 4 hours we were gone to baseball games. When we returned he had to call in another coworker to help him because housecleaning had left without cleaning one of the rooms. He went up and was cleaning the room himself! Talk about commitment! They couldn’t fix our door last night, but we were ok because it did secure from the inside. We just put our bags in a family members room when we were at the games. He did also discount our room for the night. The housecleaning staff or the plumbers that had replaced some pipes under the sink never emptied the old pipe under the sink, and the drain in the bathtub was off the drain, so you couldn’t fill up the tub. The breakfast was good, but the poor woman trying to keep up with all the families eating was causing the food to run out. The hotel was full of 15-17 year old ball players, so you know those boys were hungry before leaving for the ball fields. The manager stepped in and helped clean tables and refresh the coffee and made sure everyone had what they needed. They would get 5 stars if they just had help!

Me and my family was over for my son orientation at MSU and the whole while we was there construction on the 4th floor were my room 422 was wet paint on wall dis pleasing and i always use Holiday inn i should be compensated on my next stay at one of your hotel

The hotel was overbooked, and while I first told it was due to an Expedia issue, turns out they were behind schedule on renovations. No big deal: they booked me a room at another Holiday Inn 20 min away and paid for the room. I wasn’t thrilled, but ok… However, when I arrived at the second Holiday Inn, I was informed that no one had paid for the room and I was offered a discount rate for this room, which was more than I had originally paid. The front desk receptionist communicated with her manager, who communicated with the other manager, who communicated with the other front desk receptionist…it was all a mess! After well over an hour, we still had zero resolution. Expedia, thankfully, processed a refund and I had to pay for a second room (at an Expedia price, not the second manager’s offered rate!) The front desk receptionist, Amica, was extremely gracious, kind, and helpful. The managers on duty, Fred and Gage (neither of whom were present, but only via phone), completely threw Amica under the bus leaving her to handle this situation alone and with a myriad of misinformation. To date, I have yet to know if there will be any reimbursement or offer for completely inconveniencing both myself and at least 4 other families to whom this same situation occurred that evening. I am highly disappointed in how these managers handled this situation, both for the guests and their front desk staff.

The staff and front desk personnel are so amazing! Friendly and cheerful and very helpful. I always stay at this location when visiting family in Starkville. It is central and easy to get to the numerous restaurants close by. They are currently in the midst of renovating the guest rooms on the first and second floor, but there were no disruptions or noise from the crew. If I hadn't used the stairs and walked through the first floor I would never have known about the renovations.

The staff was excellent but unfortunately the quests in the next room keep my family up most of the night due to them being very loud and smoking weed.
