Best Western Plus Albert Lea I-90/I-35 Hotel

A regular stop on our travels to visit family. Convenient, friendly staff, easy breakfast, close to fuel and coffee before you hit the road. We wish the pool was a little warmer.

They had construction going on right below our room. They started jack hammering at 7,:30 am. Thru to 6:30 pm. The beds were lumpy. The room was clean. I had an accessible room and it was down the hall from the elevator. I hardly could get my wheelchair thru the door opening of the elevator. I requested a room on the first floor and got a room on the 2nd floor. They put a couple with a 2 kids and they had the TV on high and the kids screamed all night. The work crew was living in the hotel and they had their families there also. There was no parking in the parking lot, there was boxes of furniture all over the place. It was difficult getting to the door. The HC parking was being used by construction workers. I asked one of them to move and found out he did not talk English. That was a waste. If I had known work was happening here, I would have never stayed here. I will never stay at this best western plus again and I will never recommend it. I wasted $300 on a dumpy hotel .

I posted this on the hotels review page. This gives your brand a very negative representation. The stay was totally negative except for the lady at the front desk who was obviously overmatched and the manager abandoned her. We will stay at other branded hotels but because of the egregious handling of the situation we will ask for a refund of our money. This our fourth visit here in the last four yrs and have always very pleased with staff and the amenities. We’re here from WA to visit family every time. We will be back. Thank you.

This hotel actually exceeded my expectations. The room was not very large but still feasible and served the purpose of a place to sleep. My husband and I have two little kids and it fit our needs. The bed and new line of bedding they use are of exceptional quality. I was more comfortable sleeping in the bed provided then any other hotel I have stayed with before. It even is competition against my own bed at home! There was an exercise room available and a pool. The pool was not very large, but again, met our needs. It was cleaned and well maintained, not over chemicalized like most. They have a computer with free internet available down the hall from the lobby which was wonderful for us. The best part of all was the exceptional! breakfast. It had an array of food, from muffins, toast, bagels, to fresh fruit, hot cinnamon rolls, sausage, bacon, eggs, omelets, or biscuits and gravy. There was cartons of milk or fresh coffee, juice, water, etc. It was outstanding and by far the BEST complimentary breakfast my family has ever had. Great staff and great location. Right next door to Applebee's, HyVee, and a gas station. A very small mall just down the street. Right off the interstate, too.

We were in Albert Lea for a family wedding and needed somewhere to stay. The Holiday Inn Express was conveniently located near I90 and I35 and its rates were reasonable. We appreciated the luggage cart, the courtesy of the desk clerk and the cleanliness of the twin queen non-smoking room we had. I would go back.
