Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Kalamazoo, an IHG Hotel

We were foeced to stay here because of a disastrous reservation at a near by hotel. It was a small step up from the disastrous place we left. $210, for one night and they didnt have pillow cases for the pull out bed, and we had to go down and get our own sheets for the pull out couch for the kids. The washers were broken they didnt have clean sheets. When i checked out the next morning a housecleaning staff member had to find the receptionist to check us out. Turns out she was hanging out on another floor gossiping with a friend of hers about another employee. I know this because we passed her on our way down to check out. You would think this would have alerted her to go back to her station, but no.

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. This property is horrible. The staff is uncaring if you book thru expedia or a "3rd Party". Its location is crappy, off a business route and you cant see the signs to enter...Got to the hotel and there was a small paper sign saying pool was being renovated, not one thing on the site about no pool and the cost was way too much a night for this crap hole. Room was ok, elevator is small, building is old and smelly. Came back to hotel after going out to Whitecaps game to find there was a family reunion that happened there. Found out they used all the ice in the place, and that it was one of the hotel workers family reunion that took place. That price and no ice, 1 broken ice machine and the large manager said that the other ice machine couldnt keep up...Seems to me they should worry about paying customers more than staff using the facilities. Also, the party there was in the parking lot smoking pot and hanging out...There was still no ice in the morning when we got up at 8am to get breakfast. Now on to breakfast, horrible....no pancakes, limited selection of pastries, this was one of the worst Holiday inns that we have ever been too. The room was cleanish, bathroom was dark and dingy and they had only 2 towels. We had to ask for a couple of more since we showered after we got there. Expedia is criminal for making people pay insurance for not being allowed to cancel reservations or book something crappy like this place.

It states it had a pool and when we got there the pool was being renovated. Our kids were disappointed, that’s why we booked that hotel. And for $220/night it was so gross and dirty.

Terrible staff. They canceled my reservation without notifying me. The staff did not care that I arrived late with kids they basically left me to start looking for accommodation at 1 AM. Very un impressed and very uncaring staff. Not sure if i will ever recover from this. Terrible customer service.

Visiting family we needed clean and comfortable. This room was adequate with lots of room and good furniture. Lighting near the sink and microwave is lacking and the Kureg was broken. Elevator was tired and we were glad not to be nearby!

I loved the staff - extremely helpful in surprising my daughter with her best friend that came in from a different state - even putting us in rooms next to each other! I didn’t like how there were unsupervised soccer kids running up and down the hallways knocking on my door and running away constantly. The rooms need maintenance for water damage in the bathroom above the shower, and they are dated. The staff made it worth it though for being amazing.

We were there to visit family and the manager allowed breakfast to be served until 9:30 instead of 8:30. We are all elderly and on vacation and 8:30 is rather early for us. We really appreciated it!!

The room was clean, however when we did walk into the room it had looked like someone had maybe rented it for a family member because there was a card on the bed that said Happy Anniversary in it and it was not for us. Not a huge deal, we got a chuckle out of it but something that needs to be mentioned as someone else may have thought the room wasn't cleaned.
