The Hawthorne was the perfect place for our family to stay. We could walk everywhere from our hotel. Tons of sights, shopping, and dining options. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and the staff were very helpful. Coffee, cider, water, and lemonade available in the lobby brought the day was a nice touch. This is such a beautiful hotel nestled amongst the rich history of Salem. We look forward to staying here again.

We loved our stay at the Hawthorne Hotel. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, the location is perfect, and the vibe is immaculate. The one complaint I have is about room service - took over an hour to receive breakfast, and most of it was cold and the poached eggs were actually soft boiled eggs at that point. We will definitely return, but we will skip room service - just wanted our kids to experience it once.

The hotel is very pretty and elegant. They gave me a room on the 6th floor which was the highest floor possible and really hot. My room was consistently about 80 degrees and regardless of trying to adjust the room temperature the lowest i managed to get the room to was 76 degrees. Sleeping in that much heat dried out my skin badly and i woke up each morning feeling like i had suffered heat stroke. The windows do not open either for ventilation. The shower water was about Luke warm to cold and periodically shut on and off (must be old plumbing), but that made showering pretty miserable. The room was clean enough, but i did find a lot of random hairs around the bathroom, especially in the bathtub area and on the walls. There were a lot of random sounds in the night, echoing children’s voices and banging in the pipes it sounded like. I didn’t know this was considered a haunted hotel when i booked it so maybe that is part of the allure, I don’t know. It was honestly a gorgeous historic hotel and the location was perfect to see the sites in downtown Salem. Parking was perfect out back. If i weren’t for the room being so overwhelmingly hot and the water being so cold and janky, I would have had a more pleasant experience.

Our family stayed for a night at this historic hotel and enjoyed the hospitality of the staff very much. They were very helpful with recommendations and accommodating us with our requests. I highly recommend this property and enjoy the historic significance.

This was our first time visiting Salem and we were so lucky to stay at this great hotel! Perfect location walking distance to so many things extremely convenient. The hotel was charming, the staff was AMAZING, Gregory went above and beyond especially assisting us with a terrible booking mistake made by Hotels.com, he was so patient and gracious which eased a stressful situation for us. The rest of the staff was wonderful as well! We truly appreciate Gregory and his team for making our first visit and stay in Salem an awesome one!!! Already have plans to return in November this time with the rest of our family can’t wait!!! To the manager: please give Gregory a raise or bonus😁for his outstanding demeanor it’s hard to find such attentive staff nowadays but admittedly everyone we encountered in Salem was truly delightful

The hotel is fantastic, the staff was very friendly and hospitable and the most important thing was that it was clean and quiet for my family trip. Would highly recommend, and will stay again in the future. The location is also perfect, you can walk to any of the main tourist attractions and shops.

Lovely old hotel. We liked that our dog was welcomed, even with the high extra fee. Our room was very small but comfortable. Great location & really liked the Tavern which was surprisingly very child friendly.

I love the history surrounding the area and the hotel. I loved that it is a 'happening' place. People are there to gather for special events and enjoy one another! I am from Alabama and was there for my daughter-in-law, (Doliber) baby shower. Our server Deb was so good to me when she learned of my egg allergy! She was excellent. Customer service was very good! The only suggestion I have, please leave a can of Febreeze in the bathroom. It was super clean but because of the age of the hotel I think, there was a musty odor whenever you opened the door. It didn't leak into the room, but was strong when you walked into the bathroom. When I come to visit my grandchild I will stay there! Valerie Rodriguez
