Blue - Inn on The Beach

I love Plum Island but lodging can be tricky. The really nice properties tend to be quite large and too big/costly for a couple with one child. The smaller places tend to be a bit dated and slightly ramshackle. We booked Blue-Inn despite it being exorbitantly expensive thinking we were splurging on the nicest property on Plum Island. The Inn is quite nice but nowhere near as spacious and private as the photos appear. Also Expedia does not clearly depict that some accommodations are across the street with no beach view so that was a big disappointment. We had 3 people (2 adults and our teen son) in our two bedroom cottage, but they only brought breakfast for two daily. We asked for more coffee on the first day and were told there was no more so had to run to a store and buy coffee. The worst was that they are not doing housekeeping so we had the same 3 towels for our 3 night stay. They are not staffed in the evening, and we were out and about so never saw anyone to ask for more. There was also no bedding whatsoever for the sofa sleeper. I would not even be writing the review because our stay was adequate and enjoyable except for the fact that the rates were outrageous for what we received. Even if it had been half the price, I think I would not have felt that we got a good value. The nightly rates are outrageously high and value juts not there. Compared to the outstanding customer service and welcoming vibe at our hotel in Boston's North End, this property was disappointing.
