Hilton Garden Inn Bethesda

Was not made aware hotel stripped down to bare bones functioning - barely and under construction. Part of family intending to stay there were unable to be checked in to to IT glitches, apparently partly global in nature but they booked directly through Hilton and had copy of their reservation and confirmation. This young family had 2 very young children in need of a nap after a 11 hour drive and attending a funeral. They ended up having to go to another Hilton in Silver Spring and pay a higher room rate. Grandma was unable to help with the kids during their stay. The parking was unacceptable to pay fees every in an out rather than just the daily rate. I had booked initially 3 night stay and checked out a day early as it became cost prohibitive and could not be of assistance to family as needed.

This was a very unpleasant experience we had on our tour through the united states as a family. The room itself was okay, but the Service was not good. There was some sort of error in the booking system of hotels.com , so my confirmation said breakfast and parking included, but the hotels booking system said otherwise. Instead of helping me sort out the issue, the receptionist was very clear that it was not her problem, so I had to book breakfast again. When I wanted to pay for it during checkout, they send me back and forth between the reception and the Mezzanine level since no one felt responsible for taking the payment. The same receptionist then said I should just leave, it would be her "gift to me" and she would sort it out with the Restaurant staff. Few days later they just charge my credit card without further info and also no receipt was send.

Worst Hilton stay ever. No staff ever picked up "guest service" phone call at all. Room was dusty. Requested daily housekeeping but was not done repeatedly. Had to get down and talk to front desk again and again to request housekeeping. On second night, had to work with non English speaking technician after 10pm in the room (with rest of family members already in sleep) to fix A/C set up for over an hour (the first technician was only a week into the job and didn't know how to fix the set up). The renovation ongoing for sure was inconvenience and hassel to the stay with noice, visable construction materials around, signs to detour... The most ridiculous hassel on the fifth day morning upon leaving the garage was the scanner at the exit did not work. A clustered of 7 cars got stuck for over 15mins with ours being the last one, we were eventually told to exit a different door that had to navigate through underground car wash area and requires manual lift up to open the door. I was so glad we finally flee the hotel without any more hassels. Absolute avoid staying in this hotel if you can!

It is a safe and quiet environment for your family

Stayed here for 7 nights as very convenient for visiting family in Bethesda. Very convenient for Metro/ shopping/ eating. Very dull and bland hotel with little ambience/character. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Appalling room cleaning - had to ask 4 times for replacement cups/milk/soap. Room only vacuumed on Day 4 of our staff - still debris from previous occupier on carpet. Surfaces not cleaned. Had to complain several times. Would not stay here again but so handy for our needs. Not value for money.

I sang the praises of my room & experience to all. (Friend & family reunion.) Modern & attractive decor in good condition. The room was clean & fresh smelling/feeling, to include the bathroom which gleamed and was stocked with all necessities to include a complimentary makeup remover packet!! My bed was fantastic; firmness below a PERFECT, cushioning top layer. Bedside lamps were equipped with charging ports. The window's "black-out" shade did the job! A/C was good but finicky sleepers may want earplugs as the fan is a noticeable roar when it cycles on. (I'll take the roar & a well-functioning unit over a quiet & weak unit, any day!) The building is VERY well situated for Metro, restaurants, "services" or an invigorating walk around a "happening" city with small-town touches. (Lone woman, felt perfectly safe.) This Hilton got my reunion off to a fabulous start. Thank you, to all who made it lovely!
