Quality Inn Atchison

We have stayed here over the past 2 years as our children are attending the local college. Each time we have stayed, the cleanliness has improved more and more! The staff has always been super nice. On this trip, we arrived in the middle of the night and were assigned a room on the second floor. My husband went to get our luggage on his own only to discover there was no elevator to bring up the cart. The wonderful staff member at the desk helped him carry it to our room. The next day, we noticed the same staff member going above and beyond her duties!

All was great except no operating ventilation fan in the bath room. $30 Pet fee is a scam, children are noisier and more destructive and are not charged extra.

Cons: When we arrived our bathroom faucet did not work well. It was difficult to turn on the faucet to distinguish cold from very hot, but within a couple hours --but at 9:30 at night when we were ready for bed-- they had replaced the faucet. By that time, we wished they'd put us in a different room so we could get to sleep as we had an early morning with 3 kids. Our only other complaint is the breakfast. There is little seating space, & there was little food to choose from. If you're going to advertise a free, hot breakfast, then have a hot breakfast. When we arrived around 7, the gravy for biscuits & gravy was already gone. We told someone working at the front desk, but it wasn't refilled for about 30 minutes. By that time, we had finished & were ready to check out. Also, the food was not nearly hot enough. Even the sausage laying on the bottom of the pan was room temperature. I have health issues, and there was no way I was taking that risk of getting sick, especially on our trip, so we had to pass on the 'hot' breakfast items. Pros: The staff was very friendly. They had the roll away bed we had requested in our room when we arrived. They responded promptly when we told them about our faucet (although we're not sure why a housekeeper wouldn't have noticed that & pointed it out the last time she cleaned the room). They responded quickly when we asked for more shampoo & blankets. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable enough.

I've stayed here twice while visiting a child at the college nearby....it's an older but clean hotel and the people are friendly. I don't spend a lot of time in the hotel when in town so I don't need a super high end facility for this type of trip.
