Sonesta Simply Suites Des Moines

We were here for week visiting a family member. It was comfortable and convenient for what we needed.

Older hotel, but in great shape and very clean! The suite rooms are large and work well for small families. All of the staff were extremely nice and professional. We will stay there again. Thank you!!

The room I paid for said that it was 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. When I arrived I showed the person at reception my booking. She informed me they had no rooms like that in the hotel. She tried to get me an adjoining room, but that was not available. She called a manager who told her that Hotels.com puts the wrong information on their site. I was told they would give me an additional room for $99. I was disappointed because I paid more for this room than I could have paid at bigger name hotels for the same size room. I paid extra so that I would not have to put 3 kids in one bed. We made due since the money was non-refundable through hotels.com. The halls and elevator were in need of repair. The condition of our room was fine. On the plus side, the mini kitchen with full refrigerator was a nice convenience.

I usually stay at Sonesta suites as a rewards member. Being a family of 5 and a love for home cooked meals I love the kitchen. This stay wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. There are a lot of upgrades that’s needs improvement. This was my first time utilizing the laundry facilities which came in handy and Free, loved that. I did do a deep cleaning once I noticed hair in the fridge and on just about everything else. I will close this by saying the young lady who checked me in was super friendly as well as Ms.Lisa. I had an issue with my bank locking my card and I completely freaked as I was miles away from home unable to just walk in to the bank to get this fixed. Ms. Lisa was very patient and understanding. I will say I don’t think I would’ve experienced the same grace had I been anywhere else.
