Hyatt Place Iowa City Downtown

Went with a family member, the room was very clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast was great, lots of choices and staff was great at keeping the areas replenished . Swimming area was small, nice and clean with a view. Housekeeping was very helpful and the front desk was very good with any questions we had and with giving directions on how to park (this could be kind of difficult).

Property is located in a nice place. Front desk staff had no interest in greeting the guests. Very rude. Not trained at all. Any question that we asked the answer was sarcastic. They need to train their staff well. We stayed for one night and we booked it seeing the reviews and the property star rating. I would give 2 stars. It was noisy as there were lot of kids in our adjacent room. Parking was very inconvenient. Its a cellar shared parking on level 2 which is the lower level. They gave us a map for parking & as it was late night for some reason we were missing the garage entrance. We asked the front desk to just guide us and he was Sarcastic. He walked with my husband to the garage and had a very angry look on his face. Not at all helpful. Check out was okay but again no smile no thank you and no expression on their face. Very cold behaviour. You should understand you are in hospitality business you need to learn how to welcome your guests in a pleasing manner. Rooms are big. Breakfast was basic.

The stay was pleasant and fulfilled our need while visiting family. Unfortunately. We ended up spending more time on Coralville that downtown, so would have preferred staying there. Parking was not convenient and the original listing didn't indicate there was a separate charge. Many other places in the area include parking, so this was a surprise. I would skip the parking and use the public parking across the street if we chose to stay again. The main lobby was clean, but other areas needed attention. The staff was minimal, and it felt at times there were not enough people available.

Nice hotel. Very clean and great location. Walking distance of the campus. Only complaint was it seemed overpriced. My family was just passing through and needed a 1 night stay. Hotels.com, with all the service fees and had to pay to park, the room was over $200

I couldn’t believe we got such a nice stay for such a decent price! The breakfast was actually really good. Usually the free breakfasts are lame and underwhelming. My kids loved the options. The staff was very helpful!

Great stay as we dropped our child off at college. Comfortable, clean, quiet. Lovely breakfast. Close to everything. Will definitely stay here again!

Nice hotel! Room next door up all night made it hard to sleep with a young family. Overall hotel was clean and the desk staff was pleasant.
