Hotel Julien Dubuque

Was staying here for My daughters wedding,we had family from Texas in for the wedding who also was staying here!!! We had the Honey moon swit and extra large suite to get ready for the wedding. It worked out wonderfully.

We were unaware of the amount of children running around. We assumed there would have been more of a mature crowd in this facility. The old feel in parts felt sorry rather than historical. Bed was comfy. Staff was nice. Room was medicare.

We were in town for a family wedding at the Mississippi River Museum/Aquarium so this was super convenient location. What a beautiful old original hotel! The hotel Julien is a landmark and has kept the old timey feel BUT with such classy renovations for modern comforts. The room are spacious and clean and the hallways are so quiet! Doors close tightly without slamming! We ate at Caroline's 2x and enjoyed the Riverboat Bar 2x as well. Wonderful staff everywhere we went. It was heaven.

Beds were comfortable and the staff was friendly. Issue with the pool and certain staff’s children running around screaming and hanging on the handicap pool lift. This is a pool for guests and should not be abused by staff.

I have been going to Dubuque since I was a kid. We have made the Julien our little get away. We have been there many times and will be there many more.

That was a Christmas trip, and we stayed there for 3 nights. The hotel is fantastic; we immediately felt at home. It was so clean and cozy! The Christmas decorations were stunning, and the staff was welcoming and calm. The room and bathroom were spacious. The mattresses were comfortable, and the sheets were ironed – 60% cotton; 40% polyester. There were spa robes in the room. We also had a fridge, coffee maker, mugs, glasses, wine glasses, and even a corkscrew in the room. Everything we needed was there! And the price for all that was incredible - $85 per night! We only had two minor issues - dry air and pillows. Next time, I'd bring a travel humidifier with me, as the air was very dry. Also, I'd upgrade the pillows. They have four different types of pillows for different types of sleepers, I guess, but none of them suited me well. The restaurant had a special Christmas dinner and brunch. Everything was delectable! They didn't offer a wide selection of desserts, but they served us ice cream that wasn't on the menu. Unfortunately, we couldn't use the pool as it was always busy. Families with kids were there from early morning till late at night. The swimming pool looked much larger in the photos but was smaller than expected in reality. In general, it's a fabulous place! Would we go there again? Absolutely!

We try to stay at Hotel Julien when we come to visit family. They have nice rooms, a nice pool, and provide free coffee in the mornings.

Front desk staff are not very helpful. It almost seems as if it’s run by high school kids entirely. Street noise was very bad despite being on the 4th floor, the AC does not go lower than 66 degrees so it was hot, and the room could be cleaner. I did really enjoy the spa and the location and parking are convenient.

We stay at the Hotel Julien whenever possible while visiting family in the Dubuque area. The staff are always helpful and considerate, the facility is always clean and comfortable.

The pool was unbearably cold. We booked this hotel specifically for the pool and we couldn’t even swim in it. It was hands down the coldest pool I’ve ever stepped in. My two children were so disappointed and honestly ruined the entire stay for us. We planned a family get away to go swimming and it was ruined.
