The Drake Oak Brook, Autograph Collection

The Drake has an old-world luxury vibe to it and the common areas are very beautiful. I've stayed at this hotel on more than one occasion and the differences in room quality are quite obvious. I stayed in a suite in December, 2023, and it was opulent and extremely comfortable. I stayed in a regular king room for a few nights this past week and found it lacking. The room was very hot, despite our attempts to adjust the temperature. We reported this at checkout. Additionally, there are no towel bars, just one hook over the toilet. The makeup mirror is set about 12" too low to be useful. The refrigerator froze our liquids, and the hot water took multiple minutes to arrive, so a lot of wasted water. The final insult: $14.95/day to use the internet (a sunk cost) for EVERY DEVICE. Ridiculous. My partner is a Bonvoy customer, so it was removed from our bill, but that's an obvious money grab. Other hotels don't charge. We really wanted the Drake to be our "go-to" hotel while visiting family in the Oak Brook area, but we're likely to go elsewhere.

The property felt very old, it wasn’t modern by todays standards or hadn’t been renovated. We had to call multiple times to get towels to the room. They didn’t have Apple Pay, didn’t give us our family reunion bag even though we asked multiple times. Overall, not a great experience.

We had a great stay at the Drake. Dining options within the hotel were amazing. Overall, we would recommend this hotel to friends and family as well as stay here again the next chance we get!
