Hampton Inn Perry

After driving 12 hours from Texas to Perry Florida, I was told they cancelled my paid reservation and no more rooms were available. Closest hotel nearby with a room at that point was 2-3 hours away without backtracking an hour. Had already been driving all night with my wife and kids to try and get a couple hours of sleep in the hotel I paid for in advance. If a room is covered on the books financially, why would you cancel it without consulting the customer first? Finding out that you have nowhere to stay in the AM hours in another state is possibly the worst feeling when your trip was planned out and completely rely on using that hotel as a strategic stop to get a small crucial sleep in to finish your trip after checkout.

Room was not clean. Items left by previous gues. They had car repairs, left out in open. Hair on back of bathroom door frame. All of thos was forgivable and would have scored percently. However when the room attendant walked in our room at 9am, without knocking, my kid was in the process of getting dressed and was mortified. She said oh ill put you as a late check out. I said i thought check out was 11am, she said not here.
