Hampton Inn St. Augustine-Historic District

I give this property a 3.5. I would stay again. I think the customer service was great despite the mishap with my room. I was supposed to have an adjoining room with a friend, it got messed up. However the staff did what they could to make it right. I’m a hard rate with cleanliness because I always think a hotel could be cleaner. The breakfast was just okay. I try to find hotels with complimentary breakfast when traveling with children because it’s fun for them. I wouldn’t say anything is wrong with the hotel. Just things that could be better. I slept great, enjoyed the hot tub, and staff was excellent. I would absolutely stay again.

I like the fact it was in walking distance of a few places. Not alot of food options around except a Denny's a couple of hotels down. Was good sized room for family of five. The only thing I didn't like about the room were the pull out sofas. They were all sunken in and uncomfortable to sleep on. Enjoyed the view from the room and downtown St Augustine was only a 23 minute walk from my hotel.

Our family had a great stay overall! My kids loved the pool, we loved the convenient location to the historic district, the continental breakfast was convenient, and the price was great. A few sticking points: the carpet was filthy. As soon as I got out of the shower and walked around the room to get ready my feet were turning black. My kids feet were black nearly the whole stay as it was impossible to keep shoes on them inside. They are doing some minor construction work on the third floor. We may have been the only guests up there and we never heard a peep from the people working, but it was tricky to navigate young kids (including a curious toddler) around open cans of plaster and equipment when we'd walk from the room to the elevator. Also, I know it's the industry standard now to not offer housekeeping during your stay, but it would be nice to upgrade the trash cans to something larger to accommodate a few days worth of trash. We did the best we could to keep it tidy but still left overflowing trash cans and a few bags of take out trash next to the trash cans. It's also not the most convenient thing to have to stop at the front desk each time you need the trash emptied when you are coming and going and on vacation. Changes in service often mean a few tweaks are needed for guest accommodations. Overall (especially because of the price) we had a great stay and we would stay here again!
