This was a return visit to the Graduate New Haven for me. Location is great (near my favorite pastries at Atticus), and rooms are comfortable -- space to work, nice shower, comfy bed. I requested an upper floor/quieter room because I was here for work, and I was happy with what they gave me. Desk attendant was super kind -- and this was true the last time I was here with my family, too!

Parking was very difficult. Found a public parking garage not far but difficult to since the unloading area was taken so we had to fully unpack and unload our family in the garage and walk around the block. Checked in and given room key. This looks very cool and nice. Went up to room and noticed a contact lens on the bathroom vanity. Didn't think much of this since its clear and maybe it was just missed. Beds were made and rest of room looked fine. We were ready to get kids ready for bed and pulled covers down on bed to reveal a horrible stain- gross brown stain larger than a dollar bill. Called the front desk and they were questioning me and said the always change sheets and clean rooms. I insisted they come up and see it for themselves. The women came up and i showed her how the stain went through the bed sheet, mattress cover and all the way through to the actual mattress. Upon showing her we also noticed the other bed was stained and the mattress had the other contact lens dried up and little hairs. We were disgusted and the women was going to get new sheets for us- to make the beds- at this point we said we did not want to stay in the room because it was so gross. We requested to be fully refunded so we can go somewhere else but the women said she couldn't do that. They did end up moving us to another room which was fine. Sadly, they said they would give us a full refund, but inly ended up giving us a partial refund. About 190/240$ give or take. We will never return.

Lounge has multiple rooms and tables for studying solo or in groups - clearly very welcoming to Yale students. My high school kid was there for a tour and wanted to get out her laptop and settle in! There's a daytime coffee cafe and a bar downstairs. Good location with restaurants and bookshops in the immediate area.

The hotel has a very unique interior design them, and both my kids and I were impressed by it! The lobby seems a little worn down, but otherwise it was beautiful. 😍 The rooms were also beautiful, and I loved the ornate (and branded!) tiles in the bathroom. The one thing that would be great would be a mini fridge. Also, the outlets in the room were a little weird (the kettle for hot water/coffee was by the wind and had no outlet nearby, and the “outlets” by the desk and bed didn’t work, so it was a cute idea but not functional. All in all though it was a lovely stay and I would definitely come back!
