Cambria Hotel New Haven University Area

I’ve stayed at this location multiple times while visiting family. Sadly the front desk staff and restaurant lack any sense of hospitality. I’ve been traveling quite a bit in 2023 and this establishment had the worst customer service. This simple means having a welcoming staff . It was especially uncomfortable because it was the holidays. Yes, holidays and they had to work but I know that intention is everything. I wonder what type of management has created such an unwelcoming staff in the hospitality business.

This hotel looks wonderful on the website. First, it is very expensive and has no amenities. One coffee pot in the lobby. If you forget any of your toiletries, be prepared to navigate your way to a store. I was on foot and an employee of the hotel (traveling employee from out of state) was kind enough to take me to a store as my family members had only the clothes on our backs. Second, you will have to pay $27 dollars per day to park. Third, I booked a stay because a family member was admitted into ICU for a life threatening illness. I booked for 5 days through Expedia and purchased the insurance in case of a shorter stay. I checked out a day early and they charged me for an additional night and cancelled my parking ticket. I was unable to get out of the garage even though they charged me for an extra night. Finally, the central air in the room when set on 71 degrees was absolutely freezing and when set on 72 degrees, was an oven. The staff were friendly and compassionate but it felt that they did not have the authority to assist with any conflict whatsoever.

My experience at your hotel with my family was awful! Our service was terrible. My family and I drove 18 hours from our hometown to visit our family in New Haven. We haven't seen our family in 4 years and after our long drive we were all exhausted. We requested over five times for our room to be cleaned and nobody did anything! Our toilet was clogged and we had to commute all the way to the lobby just to use the restroom. We even asked for a plunger yet they couldn't even do that.
