Courtyard New Haven at Yale

We stay at the Courtyard Marriott every Fall move in. I did it with my oldest and now with my youngest kid. The hotel is conveniently located to Yale. Parking has easy in/out access though the lot does get crowded late at night. The hotel is clean & comfortable. During this last visit, the friendliness of the staff really stood out to me.

The room decor is dated. Only one elevator was working because the other elevator was broken. That one elevator took forever because it was moving REALLY slow. Shelves in the bathroom are rusted and brown. There are cracks in the walls in the bathroom. I hung my paper thin robe on the hook behind the bathroom door and the entire hook broke off the door. The neighborhood is sketchy. We felt unsafe walking too and from the hotel. We heard loud music blasting from across the street all night…and dirt bikes being raced down the street…and we also heard what sounded like gun shots. Popeyes restaurant is located directly across the street from the hotel, which attracts a bad crowd of people. We bought breakfast for a family of four in the hotel, and the total cost came to $90. I would never stay at this hotel again.
