Courtyard by Marriott San Luis Obispo

Stayed for a night to celebrate my husband’s birthday and this Marriott property did not disappoint! Front desk service was friendly and welcoming upon arrival. Our room was clean and comfy and was clean. Appreciated the included breakfast and wished we could have taken advantage of the pool but we didn’t have time. My kids enjoyed the gym and said everything worked well and was clean. Highly recommend staying here if you’re in the SLO area. It’s close to the university and downtown without feeling crowded. We stayed during Labor Day weekend and it was awesome!

We had an overall good experience. The property was in good condition and breakfast/coffee bar was awesome. A real starbucks with a Marriott style breakfast combined. Love the concept! The food was great and coffee tasted just like it came from a Starbucks location. The pool had lots of dead bugs on it and debrie, so I had to sweep it myself with a net for our family to enjoy, but the hot tub was perfectly clean and so warm! One of the front desk people was not friendly, and did not honor our request for a late check out. The bathroom floor in our unit was dirty, which was disappointing, but otherwise, the room looked clean although dated. We were there for a wedding and had a great time. It served its purpose.

Enjoyed a restful night's sleep in my quiet room and comfortable bed. Slept uninterrupted! Bathroom was sparkling clean. Shower was warm and the water pressure was perfect. I like the reduction in single-use plastics in the shower for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly concierge, who applied my stay to my Marriotts Bonvoy award account. Love how close this hotel is to California Polytechnic State University's in San Luis Obispo, and to stores such as Costco and Whole Foods, where I took my kid grocery shopping. This hotel is freeway accessible. A trip to downtown is easy for an off-site breakfast or dinner. Coffee in the room with real half-and-half, not the powdered stuff. However, I wish there were real reusable glass and ceramic cups and glasses, versus single-use plastic. Television easily connects to Netflix, so I could watch on the large screen and keep up with my bingeing, lol. Furniture was perfect for the room and the lighting wasn't too harsh and bright. The only downside was that the room was pricey (thinking it must be that other parents were moving their children into Cal Poly the same weekend). In the spring, I stayed at this Courtyard Marriott hotel, it was much cheaper. During that stay, I also ate breakfast at the Starbucks cafe, which I recall was delicious, and tasted fresh. Check out was efficient and the concierge was friendly. Lobby was comfortable and there was fresh water, popcorn and candy available.

Perfect for our family. Convenient. Quiet.

Although I was able to check out online, I still had to check-in again once I got to the hotel. According to the text I received, I could simply go to the front desk and get my keys. The hotel layout was unexpected with the room hallways wrapped around the pool, and so our walk from our room to the front desk was very long. We noted in our reservation that we were a family of four, but there were only three towels in the bathroom. We weren't happy to have to pay for parking; with the Marriott name, we would've expected parking to be included in the cost of the stay. The room was fine and comfortable.

Parking is $10 a day. We had a very convenient room on the first floor. Pets (dogs) allowed here as we saw a couple of them. They have a swimming pool that we didn’t use but looked nice. What I loved is the on-site Starbucks opened in the morning for breakfast and coffee. The room was clean. It has all the basic necessities. The AC was working great. Overall, I would stay here again. Nothing fancy or luxurious but great for families and good value. Loved the small lollipops for kids at the main entrance. Also they have a small convenience store with snacks and wine.
