La Jolla Shores Hotel

My family stayed here for 5 nights and LOVED it. My kids are 11 and 8 and they loved the activities like movie & popcorn at the pool and snow cones. Room was comfortable and clean. Can’t beat being on the beach and walking distance to shops and restaurants, the pool was also great. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. We’ll def stay again and would recommend.

Overall this properties location and nearby activities are hard to beat! As far as the cleanliness it was about a 3-3.5 stars for that aspect. 4.5 stars for the drinks, view, nearby activities like bikes, kayaking to the coves, enjoying chairs in the beach watching the sunset, s’mores at 5pm, walking distant restaurants, ocean rental things/ocean toys, very child friendly as well. The service on the other hand only earns 3 stars for me. The place is amazing but the people who work there aren’t the very best or care the most about what they do.

Great for family beach stay

I feel like the staff should have been enforcing that children should be supervised by the pool. We felt personally liable as NUMEROUS young children were running around the pool and in the pool at 10PM. A child easily could’ve broken their neck or drowned. We asked a child who joined us in the hottub how old she was and she replied “3 years old”. No parents in sight. The staff at the front desk could seriously improve their friendliness and helpfulness. I just feel like the value for the money was not there at this spot.

Staff: The staff at front office was lovely each interaction. Super helpful. Gave us waters and toothbrushes upon request. Helpful with any issues in the room promptly. Staff at bar in restaurant super gracious minus the bigger bald man behind the bar who was extremely rude and dismissive. Asked him to make us a couple lattes and annoyed with our presence. They were not full or hot, vanilla all over the side of the cup. Had to ask another staff to remake because I felt so uncomfortable. Then he proceeded to complain about us to another staff member. If you’re annoyed with making simply drinks for guests maybe you should find another job. Rooms average. Walls pretty thin with constant noise heard from neighbors. AC unit worked ok but would not want to rely on that in August. Room felt very damp and sticky. Do not recommend staying on first floor garden view. If you stay here go for ocean view. Loved the staff set up chairs and umbrellas on beach out back of resort at no additional cost. First come first serve. No hassle on getting towels. Pool heated. Small hot tub. Kids enjoyed movie night at pool. Food on site ok but very overpriced. Pay for convenience. Again staff super nice and accommodating. Cute little fire pit area for families to sit at night in center of property. Overall felt safe and good access to the beach. Don’t think I’d stay here again but enjoyed the time with friends and family while here. Walkable to several food spots near hotel.

I had read some shady reviews so I was nervous, but I loved this place. Rooms are basic but clean. Also who hangs out in the room when there is an ocean in like 50 feet? They offer set ups for the beach, which is so incredibly convenient. The location was great for my family & the pool was nice 10/10 will stay again.

Amazing family friendly property. Rooms a little outdated but location makes up for it!

The stay was amazing. We did have some folks on the sid of us that had really loud children who would try to open the connected door to the room. Also the parking garage would get full really quick and I was being charged if i parked there or not.

This hotel has been a gem to my family and I for the past 13 years. Every vacation our destination was to be here. The cleanliness of this hotel has taken a drastic turn for the worse. I hope that they can turn things around.
