L'Auberge Del Mar

Nothing special, dead spider on wall, loud kids running around room next door on both nights we were there.

We were given the room right off the hotel's entrance/driveway. There is a lot of street noise, and no point to using the balcony. The air conditioning did not work, and we had to file a noise complaint due to the craziness of someone's kids upstairs. The restaurant was very nice for breakfast, and the property was quite nice. Just for that price point, I expected a little more.

L'Auberge Del Mar is a wonderful getaway!! The staff was so welcoming & nice, which really set our babymoon off to a great start. The area is super walkable with a number of cute shops & restaurants. The hotel also has live music on weekends, which was a wonderful touch!

I found out about this hotel when I met my friend for a drink there a while ago. I was floored by how incredible the place looked, it's quite amazing how good the inside looks, especially the outside bar and fire pit area. I was so excited to finally stay here, but was ultimately disappointed for a few reasons. The room service menu says "all night" and the key card envelope they gave me when I checked in listed room service as being available 24 hours. I called at 1130pm, only for someone to tell me the kitchen was closed. I get that it's crazy and uneconomical to keep a kitchen open and staffed all night, but when I pay the kind of money that it costs to stay at 4 star place like this one, I expect those amenities, especially when they list those hours on their own literature. The inside of the room was underwhelming compared to how great the interior of the hotel looks. Maybe this was just personal taste, but both me and my girlfriend have stayed in nicer rooms for much less money. At check in I was offered to upgrade my room for an extra $$ to get an ocean view. The only way to actually view the ocean from my room was to go out on the balcony, stick my head out over it and look left. If this was the upgrade, I can't imagine what view the other room had...... Family friendly. Little kids everywhere. Not great for a romantic getaway. Overall, it just wasn't worth the money to stay. Amazing place for drinks and watching the sunset, just not a great hotel.
