Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach, a Hilton Resort & Spa

The hotel is very comfortable and clean, perfect for family. Just a warning on the chandler restaurant host’s incompetence, poor management and will make your family wait for no reason or less than 50% occupied tables.

Sadly th service at the restaurant was extremely slow. Once we were seated, there was no waiter to be found. We sat for breakfast and just waited 20 mins. Waiters would walk by and seemed to avoid eye contact. I got up and went to one of the waiters and asked who would be assigned to our table. He said oh sorry. We ll get right on it. He came over to ask for drinks and food. We ordered. Another 20 mins later no where to be found. Had to get up again and ask where all the waiters were. Finally came over with coffee then vanished again. The restaurant was pretty empty. If it were full I would understand waiters being busy. Not sure if understaffed. I went to tell the manager and explained we had the same experience the prev morning at breakfast. She said they were fully booked I said, I understand that. I asked her to walk over with me to the restaurant so she could see it was really empty, maybe just a few tables. She said she would speak to whoever was in charge. For the price of the hotel and how they promote 4 diamonds, service was truly lacking sadly. I asked front desk manager for a late check out since breakfast too so long, but they said no. Response was “ if delay your room it will delay a paying customer”. I thought, wait? Do I not matter anymore because I had already paid and my stay was nearly over? I had to leave breakfast before food was served to go finish packing and left my family to eat once food arrived. I hope they get better.

Great place family oriented, walking distance to the beach

Took the wife & kids for 3 days here. The ocean view was perfect. The next time I’m getting the king pull out sofa. The double queen with balcony was great. The amenities are great with so much to offer. The pool was great, the staff was super friendly & helpful. Only down side was the shampoo and conditioner and body wash not being full. We will be back.

We stayed one night to go to the beach. The free shuttle to the local beach is wonderful. They will set up umbrellas and chaise lounges for you prior to you getting there. It is a rocky beach, but there is sand for the kids to play. When I checked in, I was offered an upgrade of a pool view for $10 or Ocean view for 25. I did the ocean view upgrade, but I wouldn’t recommend it. The view is the street, and an RV park, before you see the water. It’s not really my idea of ocean view. I can’t recommend that. The staff was extremely friendly, the pool area is nice, didn’t try the restaurant because prices were really high. Overall, the shuttle and set up at the beach is a definite reason to stay here.

Everything of the hotel was comftarble and clean.The pool is family friendly and the walk to the beach is so close by.

This is my second time staying here and it never disappoints! The kids LOVED the pool and how close the beach is!

Dog feces in the back parking lot. Do not enforce regulations such as young children in the exercise room and hot tubs. Bathroom and shower not equipped as well as other similarly priced hotels.

This is really one of the most beautiful places to stay in San Diego county right on the water. The spa is lovely, and the rooms are very nice. It's time for a refresh and update of the furniture, specifically the desk and dresser spaces. We love the chrome cast option on the television. There's nothing like a sunset from the balcony of a Cape Rey oceans view third floor room! Chandler's needs so much improvement. The food is quite delicious, but some of the old school servers have an attitude that is offputting. The front of house managers are divine! They have made every effort to improve the morale. However, you can still sense the Ness and lack of welcome from those servers. I got to speak with a lovely host in the restaurant and she was sweet and welcoming. We need more of that! This is both a wonderful place to visit as a couple on retreat and a wonderful place to bring children. The gym is fantastic! Clean, well-maintained and Kermode. There's a sense of overwhelmed at the valet, as the valet park for tips. It doesn't feel organic. Regardless, Cape Rey is a place that we frequent. We love it!

What an awesome week at Cape Rey! I reserved the room through Expedia, and didn’t know where my room would be. I was offered a reasonable upgrade to an ocean view balcony room, which my family absolutely loved. The grounds are beautiful, area seemed very safe. Hotel was clean and everyone was very friendly, Great experience!
