BSL is a beautiful location! They have a lot of outdoor activities to explore. No TV or WiFi- so make sure to plan on other things to enjoy. It was a nice stay away from technology for my family.

I loved the Big Sur Lodge. It is in the heart of Big Sur. It is extremely situated convenient part of Big Sur. Close to the Big Bear Bakery and lots of great restaurants with breathtaking views. I loved the room, shower, bathroom. Each room has its own parking and you can walk to Pfeiffer park and they have gorgeous trees, river, bridges. I will totally come back to this hotel with my family.

Stayed here for two nights on our first trip to Big Sur. The location and the surroundings of the property can’t be beat with lots of wooded trails to check out right off of the property which was fantastic. We arrived late (around 8 pm ish I think) on what was probably a busy day which I understand but there was just one other family ahead of us and nobody after us, which is why it felt a little odd that the check-in process felt rushed. Since there was a storm and we were traveling with a toddler, I had a couple of questions. But the kid who checked us in was unnecessarily curt. Okay, whatever! So, I let it be. Anyway, we checked in and got free entry to three local state parks which was nice but as luck would have it, we ended up spending a lot of time in the room because of the rain. The cottages themselves are spacious and feel private with a nice balcony overlooking the trees and a cute skylight. However, everything in there felt dated and definitely needed a good dusting. I agree with one of the previous reviewers who said the walls were paper thin because we could hear every time our neighbor sneezed. Lol! But it was mostly quiet. There is also no wifi and the cellular reception is spotty. The heater in the room rattled all night but kept us warm albeit the dust on it was slightly concerning. All in all, it was a rustic, peaceful stay but I am not sure it justified the $$$ though.

There was so much smoke spot on our chimney. The air was awful to breath inside the units. I have three small children and there was very little ventilation. We asked the front desk if the soot was normal because we felt like we slept in an ash tray.

We stayed in a two queen bed cabin with a fireplace. It was clean and had skylights in the living room and a pull out sofa. They kindly set firewood, fire starter bricks and matches outside your door each day. It is a step up from camping, but does get a bit cold because the space heater doesn't really cover the whole room w the lofty ceilings. The manager was very kind when I called in advance to adjust my reservation, but one of the women who worked the front desk was incredibly unfriendly and dismissive. I don't want to penalize them too much for this, as I know it's tough to find quality staff in the hospitality world right now. The cabins are literally amongst the redwoods and there are gorgeous trails on the property and you get free access to the park as well. We might stay here again with family. I recommend asking about the location of your cabin because we were facing the pool and would have preferred to have a view of redwoods.

If you love Pfieffer Big Sur state park as much as I do, you will love the location- right in the park. All you have to do is walk down the hill and hit the trails! Pros: comfy beds, dog friendly, kid friendly, great staff, location, pool, cottage has two rooms (with fire place) and balcony. Cons: no wifi, data spotty (AT&T only) restaurant $$$ and store $$$ no microwave , main room in cottage has sun roof (?) So it can get really bright and hot for whoever takes that room. pro tip: it is worth it to book the cottage with the kitchen. It was sold out so we had the cottage with fire place. Bring your own coffee maker if you can, a hot pot and extension chords. Doors don't have chains etc so bring child proof door knob covers for small children.

We loved staying here. It was great to stay here and have access to Pfeiffer Falls, the river trail, dining, and shopping all at one place. It was great for the kids and we all had a fantastic time.

Staff does not keep their word! Creaky and old beds, very uncomfortable. We booked for 2 nights and had to leave after first night due to family emergency, I was told that I would get a refund for the night I did not stay, I later called and spoke to the manager twice, who promised to do it right away. Don’t see a refund yet ( been more than a month now)! Their right away must mean the opposite!

This was by far thee worst experience I have ever encountered in my lifetime and i hope this is the last time this happens to me or anyone who comes here. The night staff supervisor, Garrett, was completely and utterly rude and disrespectful towards me. So what had happened was i had booked through expedia to stay for my 11 year anniversary for the weekend here. Ive receieved several emails and texts confirming my booking. I also made several calls to confirm as i booked this room in advance. But GARRETT could not find me in their system after we drove 10 hours to get there he immediately shut me down. Regardless of me having more than several confirmations about the booking he was not having it. The location had no cell service nor was i receiving any signal. And i had asked to use their phone to call expedia. Which expedia called him 4x to tell him the booking went through what is the problem. GARRETT kept saying too bad theres no availability anymore. So basically he made it seem i was ruining his night by making him work. He kept huffing and puffing. And ignoring me when he was standing 3 ft away. He started to even mock me when i spoke like a little child. I already suffer really bad anxiety, hence why i kept calling to confirm my booking but that night he made it worse. He was rushing me to leave the vicinity and kicking me out at 9pm in the middle of darkness with no signal and no where to go for the night let alone the weekend. That night i sufferered 2 anxiety att
