We entered the hotel and check in was fne, not great though. The staff seemed slightly confused but it was not too concerning at that point. My family booked two rooms, both of which were in a separate building. We walked to the rooms and noticed messed up hallways and a smell. We then got to the separate building and that was very beat up. Aside from appearances of the walls and floor, the ice machine was missing and the elevator was a disaster, very old and worn. We were all nervous at that point, and the hallway smelled foul. Then when I entered my room I immediately noticed much dirt and debris on the floor and a strong smell. Our second room was also not pleasant. Both seemed not properly cleaned. We have never checked into a hotel and canceled, but I immediately called Hotels.com and canceled, switching rooms was not an option, it was in too bad of shape. I have to say, the hotel did try resolving the smell issue, but it was not going to help, we were all grossed out. If this was the only Homewood Suites I have ever stayed at I would never stay at one again, and although I have had good experiences at them before, I still do not know how long it will be before I stay at one again.

The windmill is what you should expect if you stay at an all-suites hotel- we stayed in a room with a pool view, and it wasn't that noisy, it has quiet hours in the pool from 7-9am. The room was spacious, I think it could technically fit a family of four, with little ones on the sofa bed in the living room. The bathroom is accessible from the living room and bed room. The breakfast is perfectly adequate, with make your own waffles, slightly dilluted coffee, boiled eggs and all sorts of bread products. The very nice thing about Windmill is that it's located in a shopping plaza with nice restaurants, (Acacia, Vivace, and a wine bar) and after hours locations (there's a club!), and there are places to walk around after/before dinner in St. Philips Plaza. The stores there are sort of edgy boutiques. So you could go touring around in your car and then come back to a very nice dinner/wine and roll yourself on home w/o driving. We happened on a farmer's market on Sunday morning, that sold local plants and food stuffs at non-tourist low prices- it was a very nice way to end our stay!
