Older but well-maintained property with an excellent restaurant on site and helpful staff. Mellow, family vibe with pleasant grounds and very close to Canyon de Chelly.

Nice place to stay, beds were comfy, nice towels, good hot water, quiet. Felt bad for the overworked employees in the restaurant. The food was ok, biggest pancake in the world! Booth seats in restaurant were a little too low for me, I looked like a toddler at the table who needed a booster seat. Gift shop was pretty amazing. Rim tour was ok but we could do that ourselves, I'd opt for the interior tour instead.

It was just fine, nice room, would love a couch for a family. Love that it had a microwave and fridge.

We were pleasantly surprised with how cute this little place was! The surrounding area is very shabby but the lodge, though very old, is clean, comfortable and we would recommend and stay again. We had a dog and two small children. They were both welcomed and it was simple to check in. Safe area for both. The food in the cafeteria was fine. There are not many options in the area and we were happy with their offerings.

We stayed at Thunderbird Lodge after touring Canyon De Chelley. It is an old lodge, which meant the room had plenty of light. There was a light over each bed (3 way bulb) which was great because we are avid readers before bedtime. There was also lots of space in the room if you have small children. There was a cafeteria within walking distance that served good food. I would stay again.

Thunderbird Lodge is within the park and shares the Native ambiance. It’s not ‘upscale’; it’s family-run in feel, clean, unique, a little quirky, quiet, great service, great Navaho food in the cafeteria, great gift shop.

There was a dead baby frog between the bathtub and toilet. There was debris on the floor in the bathroom adjacent to the garbage can and under neath the cabinet holding the sink. I questioned why I was charge more at check in than I agreed to pay on the Hotels.com website and I was told they didn't charge me an environmental thing.

We came for a funeral. It was clean and felt like we were underground. Some may not like that, but it was in one of the older buildings built from sandstone. Everything in the room seemed updated and new. Our other family had a newer building and had difficulty sleeping because of the noise of the rain and thunder. We slept great, as the old building had super thick stone walls. The Thunderbird restaurant was very disappointing. It was dirty and the staff were not friendly at all. It used to be such a nice place and now the restaurant looks like a cheap place ready to close down. The back room looked like a storage room. The last two time eating here in the past six months seems like it just keeps getting worse.
