Mercure Newport Hotel

We had a great stay 2 adults and 2 children. I had called a few days before to request a cot for our toddler and this was in the room. The room was a great size for a family and had a partition so we could still have the TV on when the kids went to bed unlike in most hotel rooms where we have to sit in pitch black until they go to sleep! Bathroom was also a great size. Very modern and no issues with noise. We were on the 9th floor and had lovely views. We paid to include breakfast plenty of choice however the bacon and sausage could have been better quality. Hot and cold options there was something for everyone however as a mercure I would expect higher standard of food. However I would definitely stay here again

We thought your breakfast was really good value compared to many hotels of this type. The only reason for not giving you excellent for comfort was that unfortunately the air conditioning was not working properly in our room. The rest of the family with us had no problems.

We stayed in a privilege room with our two kids. We felt under privileged too say the least. We checked in on a Friday for two days stay for a wedding. There were no tissues in our room when asked we were told that they had ran out. Mini fridge was inoperative which meant milk that we bought for our two kids including a 10months old had spilt. Also to make things worse air conditioning was not working which left our little one with heat rashes all over as the temperature was 23/24c. We complained numerous times at the reception but rather than coming back with a solution they would turn around and say they cannot do much as they only single person on the weekend. Hotel itself is clean and modern however they need to get the basic right!

The 2nd year of staying here whilst visiting family over Christmas and the standards have remained exceptionally high. This hotel is right in the centre of the city next to Friars walk yet felt quiet and peaceful throughout the stay. All of the staff are exceptionally welcoming, and the room was spotless. If you’re visiting Newport and need quick, walkable access to the city centre, Rodney Parade or train station I’d highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay. The hotel is very new and everything was in pristine condition. You could literally smell the cleanliness walking around the hotel. The view from our room was amazing! The decor was really very luxurious. The staff at the hotel were incredible! Every single member of staff that we met from reception to housekeeping to the breakfast staff went the extra mile to ensure our family's stay was fantastic! We would love to visit again in the future. Thank you.

Rooms were modern and spacious. I stayed with my two teenage children and there was a partition wall between the two sleeping areas which made things more comfortable. Restaurant and transport links all within 5 minutes of the hotel

We stayed over the weekend for the wrestling and wow! I would happily stay at this hotel again! I had originally booked a standard double room but when we arrived earlier than the check in time just to drop the bags off they said our room was ready and that we had been upgraded to a junior suite! The staff were so friendly and always greeting you as you walked in. The suite was exceptional! The cleanliness was out of this world and the view out of the window was just something else and the shower…well I honestly have no words apart from just book this hotel!! We can’t wait to come again in the future!

My family and I had a pleasant experience overall. The room was clean and quite spacious. We stayed for two nights and during the day we were out, only returning quite late.

Bed was a little uncomfortable! Bathroom was lovely except no shaver point. Excellent tea and coffee facilities. We had a junior suite so 2 tvs although in practise can’t watch both as sound travels. No room service but breakfast was very good
