A good place to stay, breakfast was reasonably priced. There are limited pool hours for families.

Had to leave a young child at my table to go to the bar each time I wanted to order food or drink because the poorly trained staff were too lazy to serve at tables. My starter and main came out together so I had to leave my child again to discuss with staff. It had to be sorted by me as I was made to pay in advance. Customer comes last in this place. Minimum effort by staff is the priority.

It will take some improvement before I stay at the Village Hotel in Edinburgh again. You can tell that the Hotel management needs a lot of improvement as it fails to deliver on many of it's promises. Whilst the rooms were clean and modern enough, there weren't enough towels and the service was extremely poor, particularly in the bar and grill restaurant. It started poorly when we booked a reservation online for the restaurant only to be rudely told when we arrived that the online booking doesn't always work and they had no reservation. They then put us at the back of the restaurant almost as a way to forget about us. It took 25min before they came to take the order with many items not available on the menu. After another 45min, the food arrived and was terrible; bland tastes and meats were cooked dry. They failed to bring all the food on time and even omitted some items with certian dishes. When we requested the items, it was met with a huff as if we were being a nuisance. We were asked to leave the restaurant at 9.30pm because we had young kids, which their alcohol licence prohibited, although they hadn't brought our desserts yet. Absolutely, atrocious service. Avoid the restaurant.

While we did have a decent stay at this hotel, we felt we had to leave a negative review as a supposed 4-star hotel it let us down in a lot of ways. 1. No ice machine in the hotel, we stayed in the summer it was very warm. 2. Air Conditioning in the room was poor, the temperature wouldn't drop below 21oC with the Window Open. 3. Sat down for dinner with 2 small children at 5:30 pm on Friday night. We choose to eat early because of our children's ages, (both under 4 years old), the main courses took over an hour to come and the dessert wasn't served till after 9 pm... we only had two courses and the restaurant wasn't overly busy. This was hours past our kid's bedtime and really not good. 4. The beds in the room moved around way too easily, kids were forever moving them and pillows would fall down the back of the bed. 5. The wifi wouldn't let us watch anything on Disney+, when traveling with kids, you expect to be able to stream on your devices. 6. There was a leak in our shower room, so every time you took a shower the floor on the bathroom ended up soaking wet. 7. No plastic glasses in the bathroom for washing up etc, there were actual glasses in the room, but the young kids would likely smash them so we had to hide them. 8. The Starbucks in on the ground floor had a sign up saying they were open until 6 pm on Sunday, but when I tried to buy someone at 5:20 pm they said they wouldn't accept cash as they had 'cashed' out for the door. Why have a sign up saying 6pm then?

Nice, basic hotel that is family friendly. It would appeal particularly to visitors wanting access to good exercise facilities and a "sports bar" style restaurant. The restaurant was pretty limited in its offerings (mostly burgers), and had a limited vegetarian offering. It would have been helpful to have both facial tissues and a hair dryer in the room.

Had a fantastic night at the village hotel. Location was good only a bus ride from edinburgh. Bus stop right outside train station in peincess street and we got on number 19 that took us right beside hotel. Swimming and spa facilities were fantastic especially will 2 kids. Morrisons across the road for any last minute snacks will definitely be back.

Myself amd my 2 kids took a couple of days away, we could not have chosen a vetter hotel. In the hotel was a starbucks, a great sports bar and grill and a swimming pool! The place was immaculate, almost seemed new, and the staff were so happy amd helpful. Already looking for another village holiday for our next trip. Also the locals used the bar and the gym which is comforting.
