Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh City West, an IHG Hotel

I booked two rooms. The first room was superb with two large beds. The second room had an awful smell - we dicussed this with the staff and they eventually moved us to another room with a sofa bed rather than a second bed. I was staying with the two children in the first room. It was warm in the room so I put the air conditioning on when we went to bed. We had to switch it off as it was making an awful noise. The safety latch was also broken on the door. Breakfast was good and staff in the restaurant were lovely.

I paid a lot for 2 rooms. Neither room had functioning air condition, the bathrooms were worn down, the shower curtains too short and the property was dated. The restaurant was half functioning and we were unable to get a meal. I was traveling with 4 adults, 2 children and 1 baby and I was not impressed at all. I picked the location based on amenities and location and it didn’t come close to meeting my expectations.

Everything was clean and the room was in a very good state. We were particularly pleased with the size of the family room. It was very comfortable for a family of 4. The hotel location is well connected to the city center with public transport. We would definitely return.

Travelled with baby - not convenient as no fridges in rooms

Front desk staff was very abrupt. We were travelling 4 adults and a baby in two rooms. Contacted Holiday Inn to make sure we got connecting rooms and grudges in room. Both were confirmed. Booked through Expedia said laundry services (as in self-laundry). We were able to get a room across hall from each other but no fridges or laundry facilities. Parking is easy and relatively cheap at 5GBP per day. Asked for late check out - was given extra hour. Took luggage out of room but did not check out. Went out came back at 1105AM and jeu did not work. Got it reissued but when I returned to roo Had been cleaned and prepared for next guests. Breakfast is pretty good as hotel buffet breakfasts go. But once it’s over forget about free tea, coffee or water….. It was one night for us two for our daughter and her family. We switched rooms with them as we had a very large room and theirs was insanely tiny. It served the purpose as beds were comfortable and shower was decent. I would not recommend if there linger and wanting to visit Erin urban without using car

Great base for exploring the city. Bus #43 got us into Old Edinburgh in less than 20 minutes, which was also a great way to see the city. There’s a family pass for the day that was 10.50 pounds. M & S was nearby- great prepared foods. Highlights- castle and audio tour, hiking Arthur’s Seat, walking through all of the streets. And the beer garden near Waverley Station. Breakfast was hot and set us up for the day. A very easy stay!

We had a wonderful experience for our stay here! The staff was extremely nice and accommodating, Agnus especially went out of her way to make our family feel welcome! The breakfast was wonderful and we loved it was across the street from a shopping center.

A little outdated, but in a great location. The room was tiny for a family of four, but we made it work.

Clean room, good bed and shower. Everything you could want in a family hotel plus great breakfast included. I would recommend.

My grandchildren and I really enjoyed the breakfast which comes with the reservations, the staff are so helpful, giving us accurate info as to how to go about the city.
