Great modern hotel! My kids really liked the pool! Edinburgh points of interest are easily walked to. Great pick

Had a great stay in Edinburgh with family. Pool was nice and short walk or bus anywhere around the castle.

Allocated a VERY tired worn out room. Sheets were threadbare and actually torn, the carpets were badly stained with spilt bleach, coffee and numerous other dubious substances. A terrible first inpression. The bed was comfortable just let down by the quality of bedding. The old smelly pillows were dreadful and terribly uncomfortable. It was noisy outside with the window open (smashing bottles into waste bin) but unbearably hot with the room cooling system. No air-con and unable to sleep due to the high temperature. The shower was ok but leaked as seal needed replacing. Insufficient toiletries. No conditioner or moisturiser. For a four star rated hotel it was a 2 star room. We may have been extremely unlucky. We were in a family room fourth floor room 448 which had obviously been very well used. The rest of the hotel seemed ok. We didn’t eat or use the pool so can’t comment about that. The staff were cheerful and welcoming. We didn’t complain as the we believed the hotel was full so would have been pointless. We generally use Novotel as we find them clean, well equipped, well staffed and comfortable and worth that bit extra for peace of mind that you are going to get a good nights sleep. So disappointed with our experience at this hotel. For £300 a night I believe we deserved MUCH better.

Spacious Room, Great Food, but not family-friendly
Stayed at Novotel Edinburgh Centre for three nights with my family, including a tween and a 5-year-old. The room was spacious and modern, but not suitable for families with small children.
Separate toilet without water for hand washing was impractical for kids needing assistance. Lack of a hand shower in the bathtub made bathing difficult without getting ourselves wet. Additionally, no latch for privacy in the bathroom or toilet, coupled with non-opaque doors, made it inconvenient for families.
Temperature control was inadequate, leaving us hot and uncomfortable at night. A broken fridge exacerbated the issue, emitting heat instead of cooling our food sufficiently.
On the upside, the restaurant food was excellent with a variety of options for breakfast. Kids enjoyed the fun of cooking their own waffles. Staff were helpful and attentive.
Overall, while the food and staff were commendable, the room layout and amenities were not family-friendly.

Another lovely stay at the Novotel. We stay here due to its handy location, easy to walk everywhere and the pool for a bit of down-time for the kids.
OK, its not a luxury hotel but if you get a decent price it's ideal for a family weekend break

Great place with a smaller family. Central location and breakfast were key.

While the hotel was one of the more affordable options for the location, as a family we had some issues. The rooms really were very small. The heating was not good. You don't have any control over the heat/cooling of your room... so even when we turned the heat off and opened the windows the room was still very hot. There was a ticking noice in the room. We did have a door issue, but the staff sorted that out. Overall, while we had a lovely get away, out hotel experience wasn't great.

I was really impressed. Used my Tesco vouchers and found whole process really simple. Hotel is back side of castle but beautiful walk and only ten mins by foot. Pool is lovely though quite cold. Kids didn’t mind. Room was basic but comfortable and had everything we needed as a family of four. Reception staff wasn’t very knowledgeable about recommending somewhere to eat but just used trip advisor instead. Overall really happy with our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The children really loved the pool. The food was excellent.
The lady on reception was very happy with my daughters drawing so very kindly gave her some drawing thins in return.
The only down side was the gentleman on reception (bald head and glasses) he was very rude and in my opinion really needs to focus on his customer service.
The rest of our stay was fabulous. We did unfortunately have to leave a day earlier due to a family emergency.
